Xiaomi Mi 6 spotted on AnTuTu, scores higher than the iPhone 7

Xiaomi is yet to announce a date for the launch of its anticipated Mi 6 smartphone. However, that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from going abuzz with a range of speculations and leaks. Now, according to the latest reports, the purported smartphone has achieved the highest score ever on benchmark tests, which essentially makes it the fastest smartphone ever.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is said to house Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor. An AnTuTu benchmark report, shared by a Weibo user, suggests the ‘prototype Mi 6’ smartphone has achieved a score of 210,329. With this score, the smartphone achieves a performance rate higher than the iPhone 7 Plus which has a score of 183,106. In Android smartphones, record of the highest performing smartphone is currently held by OnePlus 3T which houses Snapdragon 821 chipset with a score of 163, 578.

The Snapdragon 835 SoC has been touted to be Qualcomm’s most efficient till date. Built with 10nm fabrication process by Samsung, the chipset is capable of delivering up to 27 percent higher performance while consuming less power than the older Snapdragon 821. The use of new chipset further adds to speculations about the Mi 6 being a high-end device which could feature a 4K display. The SoC comes with Quick Charge 4.0 support, which is claimed to be capable of offering up to five hours of usage or more with just five minutes of charging. The Mi 6 is expected to come in three processor variants, dubbed Xiaomi Mi 6S, Mi 6E, and Mi 6P, based on the type of processors they house. The Mi 6S stands for the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC variant while the Mi 6E stands for a MediaTek Helio SoC variant. There have been reports that the E moniker could also stand for Exynos chipset. The Mi 6P, on the other hand, is speculated to stand for Xiaomi’s own Pinecone SoC. While there is still no clarity on the kind of processor used, it is expected to come in 128GB and 256GB storage variants and up to 6GB of RAM. It will further come in three color choices of Black, White, and Blue.

In terms of other features, the Mi 6 is speculated to come with a 2.5D curved display, a physical home button that is likely to double up as a fingerprint sensor, and a dual tone design with a metal back. It is said to further run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat or Android 7.1 Nougat update with MIUI 9 OS layered above. It is further speculated that the smartphone will boast up to 6GB of RAM. With a possible inclusion of a 3,000mAh battery, it may feature support for USB Type-C.

A little is also known about the smartphone’s camera setup, which is expected to be a 16-megapixel rear shooter with 4K video recording capabilities and dual-tone LED flash, along with a 4-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Mi 6 rumored to come with Qualcomm Snpadragon 835 SoC

Based on the latest reports, the Mi 6 is likely to be unveiled in the first half of 2017 with a possible launch in the month of February or April.
