Live photos and specification of the Moto G5 Plus have leaked via a Romanian seller’s website.
Over last few months, we saw a plenty of leaks around the Lenovo-owned Motorola‘s upcoming Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones. We even came across some speculations that hinted at a March 8 launch for the smartphones. There also have been some leaked images of the handsets, along with a table of specifications that surfaced online. And now, the alleged Moto G5 Plus went up on sale on a Romanian market place (which, however, is now showing sold) , and the listing has fortunately leaked some live pictures of the handset, as well as the full set of specifications.
Listed under the model number XT1685, the posting reveals that the Moto G5 Plus may come with a 5.5-inch 1080p display. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. On the photography front, the listing shows that the Moto G5 Plus will have a 13-megapixel primary camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone will be fuelled by a 3,080mAh battery.
The smartphone will run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat and will feature a fingerprint sensor on the front, underneath the display. Interestingly, the listing is from January 4 and hasn’t been taken down yet. If you’re from Romania and want to play with the prototype of an unannounced smartphone, you can purchase this Moto G5 Plus, sans any accessories, for RON 1,650 (that’s roughly about Rs 27,000).
As for the launch date, the listing also reveals that the Moto G5 Plus is allegedly coming in March, which falls in line with the earlier March 8 speculation. However, the March launch may also mean that Motorola could make the smartphone official at MWC 2017.
Besides this, Motorola is believed to be planning on launching the Moto G5 along with the Moto G5 Plus. Previously there have been rumors that revealed a few things about the two smartphones. We know so far that the Moto G5 Plus will feature a fingerprint sensor, which will be placed beneath its home button. The Moto G5, on the other hand, may come without a fingerprint sensor.
Moving to the leaked specs, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus will both feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display. Both the smartphones will be powered by an octa-core processor, and both will come with a turbo charging support. Additionally, even on the camera front, both Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus will feature a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. ALSO READ: Moto G5, G5 Plus specifications, launch date leaked
However, charting the differences, the main camera will be a 13-megapixel sensor on the Moto G5 and 16-megapixel on the G5 Plus, and the storage option on the Moto G5 will be 16GB, while the G5 Plus will come in two variants — 16GB and 32GB.
Interestingly, a report by GSMArena also states that the Moto X (2017) that has been leaked recently, could actually have been the Moto G5 Plus all this while. If you look at the leaked renders of the two smartphones, they do look eerily similar. Now, we cannot really compare the two because what we know about the Moto X (2017) right now is really scarce. What we know so far came from some recent 3D renders of the purported Moto X, which hinted that the Moto X (2017) will sport a heavy design with dimensions of 150×73.8×8.4mm. The renders also hinted that the Moto X will feature an audio jack, as opposed to the popular trend of 3.5mm-less designs. There were also reports that the Moto X (2017) will have a smaller footprint, with a display measuring 5.2-inches.
