Gionee had sent out invite for the launch of a selfie-centric smartphone on August 22. Ahead of the launch, the company has put up a teaser on its social media handle, revealing the smartphone name and what the device looks like. Read on to find out the most we deciphered from the latest teaser.
Last week Gionee sent out an invite for an event in Delhi on August 22. The invite had hinted at the launch of a selfie-centric smartphone. Ahead of the launch, the company has posted a teaser for its next launch on the social media. The the teaser reads,”The incoming one.. The New One, which is redefining “premium selfie” means to you.” While the teaser confirms that the smartphone will have a front facing camera with flash, it also confirmed the name of the device, Gionee S6s.
According to the teaser, the smartphone will come with a fingerprint scanner on the back, just below the rear camera lens. The smartphone sports a metal body and comes in a rose gold color. Other than that, the power button and the volume buttons are spotted on the right side of the smartphone. The smartphone has the USB port and the 3.5mm headphone port at its bottom. However, we cannot confirm if the Gionee S6s will sport a Type-C USB port, but it most likely will considering that the Gionee S6 Pro sports a Type-C USB port.
Gionee had launched the S6 Pro in China for 1,999 Yuan (Rs 20,000 approximately) and Android Authority reports that the S6s could be quite similar to the S6 Pro. This suggests the Gionee S6s could also sport a MediaTek Helio P10 Chipset, 4GB of RAM paired with 64GB onboard storage. The S6 Pro features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 8-megapixel front camera.
Gionee’s S6s will go head to head with its major competitor Oppo which had recently launched the “selfie expert” Oppo F1s in India for Rs 17,990. We’ll have to wait and see what Gionee has in store for the selfie lovers and if it can give heavy competition to other existing selfie-centric smartphones.
