Meizu M5s launch invite China February 15

The M5s is expected to be Meizu’s next affordable smartphone with its pricing placed at Rs 10,000 approximately.

Meizu is preparing for an event on February 15 in China. The company has sent out media invites for the event that includes the picture of a charger depicting fast charging technology. Although the invite does not mention the product name, all bets are on the highly rumored Meizu M5s smartphone, which is said to feature the company’s ‘mCharge’ technology. The Meizu M5s has been certified by TENAA, spotted on benchmarking websites and its retail packaging had also been leaked recently, revealing almost everything about the smartphone. The Meizu M5s is believed to be a follow up to the M5, which was launched last November.

The leaked retail packaging of the Meizu M5s pretty much confirmed that a launch is nearing for the smartphone, and the invite further complements this assumption. In addition to the specifications leaked previously, the retail packaging also revealed a few key specifications of the M5s and its price as well. Going by the leaked image, the M5s will come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. The Meizu M5s will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and will come with 4G LTE support for connectivity. The smartphone is listed with a price tag of $145 which rounds off to Rs 9,800.

Images of Meizu M5s had also been leaked which revealed what the smartphone would possibly look like. Bearing much resemblance to the M5 Note, the only noticeable difference between the two is that the M5s sports curvier edges. The front panel of the M5s features the selfie camera lens and the Home button which is expected to double up as a fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is said to use the company’s own mTouch fingerprint identification technology that can unlock the device in 0.5 seconds.

The power button and volume rocker are located on the right side of the smartphone, with the rear camera lens and LED flash placed vertically on the back. The Meizu branding can be seen located below the camera lens and two antenna bands running along the top and bottom. There is a 3.5mm audio jack on top of the smartphone, and a USB Type-C port on the bottom. ALSO READ: Meizu M5s retail packaging allegedly leaked

Accumulating the previous rumors and leaks, we can expect the Meizu M5s to feature a 5.2-inch HD IPS display. At the core of the smartphone, it could run a Qualcomm octa-core processor clocked at 1GHz. In addition to the 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage, two more variants had rumored for the Meizu M5s. If the previous rumors are to be believed, then the M5s could come in two more variants of 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage and 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage.

In the photography department, the Meizu M5s is expected to sport a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera up front. For Power, the smartphone could use a 2,930mAh battery which will be equipped with Meizu mCharge technology. The color options displayed for the Meizu M5s include silver grey, gold and rose gold.
