The Moto G5 Plus could come with a 12-megapixel Rapid Focus rear camera.
At the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, Lenovo-owned Motorola is expected to announce the anticipated Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. The smartphone, successor to last year’s Moto G4, has been spotted in numerous leaks before, leaving little to the imagination ahead of the official launch. Now, in the latest images, spotted on Chinese social network Weibo, the Plus variant of the Moto G5 show off the rear panel of the smartphone with a circular camera module encased in a metal body.
Based on the live images, the Moto G5 Plus features a metal unibody design in grey finish, giving it a very premium appearance. It features slightly rounded edges, while the rear panel houses the coin-shaped camera module, and the signature Moto logo placed in linear fashion. This week, images of the front panel were also spotted online. The images hinted at a capsule-shaped home button on the front. Now, if we put the latest leaks together, the home button will double up as a fingerprint sensor as the rear panel is neat with just the circular camera module and the company logo.
Moto G5 Plus specifications and features
Thanks to a series of leaks over the weeks, we now have a fair idea about the possible features and specifications of the larger variant of the Moto G5. Putting together all the revelations from the past, the Moto G5 Plus could feature a metal unibody design with the said circular camera design at the back. While previous rumors have indicated that the G5 Plus will come with a 5.2-inch display, latest reports suggest the contrary. It is expected that the smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch display. Given that it is a Plus variant, it makes for a more believable notion. The AMOLED display will offer full HD resolution at 1080p and come with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.
At the heart of the Moto G5 Plus, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC is expected to come paired with 4GB of RAM. It is expected to come in two storage options of 16GB and 32GB. ALSO READ: Moto G5 Plus leaked image hints at 5.2-inch full HD display, octa-core processor and 3,000mAh battery
In the photography department, the Moto G5 Plus is expected to sport a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, along with a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies. It is to be noted that certain reports have also hinted at a 12-megapixel rear camera with ‘Rapid Focus’. However, at the moment, every information needs to be taken with a grain of salt as none of it is from official sources. Additionally, it is also worth pointing out that given a new type of circular design for the rear camera, we might be able to actually see a camera-specific G5 Plus.
The Moto G5 Plus is further said to run Android 7.0 Nougat with some features from Motorola Experience including Moto Assist, Moto Display, and Moto Actions. It is expected to be fuelled by either a 3,080mAh battery or a 3,000mAh battery with Turbo Charging support. It is also expected to come with NFC support. To put into perspective, the Moto G5, on the other hand is likely to feature a smaller display and lack certain features present in the larger (also slightly pricier) variant. It is said to boast a 5-inch full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. In the photography segment, it is expected to come with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. It is expected to be fuelled by a 2,800mAh battery and run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
