
Honor V9 with 6GB of RAM, 4,000mAh battery launched: Price, specifications and features
As scheduled, Huawei Mobile’s sub-brand Honor, launched its flagship smartphone V9 yesterday in China. Along with the Honor V9, the company also unveiled the Honor 8 Lite in China, which was recently launched in Japan as the Huawei Nova Lite. While there is no news yet if and when the devices will come to the Indian market, here is all that the Honor V9 and Honor 8 Lite have to offer.
Honor V9 specifications and features
The Honor V9 features a 5.7-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) LTPS LCD display. For photography, the device sports a dual camera with a 12-megapixel senor with f/2.2 laser autofocus, LED flash, and 4K video recording. Up front, the Honor V9 comes with an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0.
In its gut, the Honor V9 gets it power from Kirin 960 eight core processor (wherein, 4 Cortex-A53 cores are clocked at 1.8GHz and 4 Cortex-A73 cores are clocked at 2.4GHz), which is coupled with 6GB of RAM, and 64GB and 128GB on-board storage option. The 64GB version comes with an option to expand storage up to 128GB using a microSD card. Additionally, running on its own EMUI 5.0 UI based on Android 7.0 Nougat, the smartphone supports hybrid dual-SIM slot, and is fuelled by large a 4000mAh battery. The smartphone also comes with fingerprint sensor support.
Honor V9 Price
The 64GB model of the Honor V9 smartphone is priced at CNY 2,999, which translates to about Rs 30,000, on the other hand the 128GB variant pricing is yet to be announced. The pre-booking for the Honor V9 has kicked off, while the handset will start shipping from February 28. Do note, the availability of the device is still limited to China.
Honor V9 vs OnePlus 3T vs Asus Zenfone 3
Further, considering the price range, the Honor V9 will compete with the likes of OnePlus 3T, which is priced at Rs 29,999, and Asus ZenFone 3 (ZE552KL) which is priced at Rs 27,000. Talking about the OnePlus 3T first, the smartphone flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core chipset clocked at 2.35GHz paired with 6GB of RAM, and comes with 64GB internal storage, which can further be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. For photography, the smartphone sports a 16-megapixel rear and a 16-megapixel front facing camera unit. Fuelling the device is a 3,400mAh battery and 4G LTE support and fingerprint sensor. On the software front, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based on with Oxygen OS. Considering the battery size and the out-of-the-box OS, Honor V9 seems to be ahead of OnePlus 3T. Although OnePlus 3T has now received the Nougat update.
As for the Asus ZenFone 3 (ZE552KL), the smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display along with 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core chipset clocked at 2GHz paired with Adreno 506 GPU, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB on-board storage.
For photography, the Zenfone 3 is equipped with a 16-megapixel PixelMaster 3.0 snapper at the back with f/2.0 aperture, laser auto-focus, and support for PDAF and OIS, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone also features a fingerprint scanner and a hybrid SIM and microSD setup. The device is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery, and runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 wrapped under the ZenUI 3.0. Honor 8 Lite specifications and features
Moving on to the Honor 8 Lite, the handset was officially launched earlier this month. As the name suggests, the Honor 8 Lite is a stripped down version of the Honor 8, which was launched last year. While the novelty of the Honor 8 Lite does not match to the Honor 8′s level, the smartphone though comes with a 2.5D glass up front and back to give a premium look and feel.
The Honor 8 Lite comes with a 5.2-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Huawei’s in-house flagship Kirin 950 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of internal storage that can be further expanded upto 128GB using a microSD card.
In the photography department, the smartphone comes with a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, autfocus and LED flash. On the front is an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The device is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery that the company claims can last more than a day. On the software front, the Honor 8 Lite runs EMUI 5.0 based on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
Honor 8 Lite price
When launched in Europe, the Honor 8 Lite was priced at 269 Euros which is approximately Rs 19,500, which is also 1,947 CNY. However, yesterday when launched in China, the device was priced for CNY 2,599, that translates to about Rs 25,000.
