This latest news from Star Trek officials have got the excitement for tonight’s Apple event rise even higher. According to a recent Twitter post by an official Star Trek-related account, Apple may unveil Star Trek voice in Siri tonight.
There is already so much excitement and drama blanketed around today’s Apple launch event, where the tech giant is expected to launch the iPhone 7, the iPhone 7 Plus and the second generation Apple Watch. A recent tweet by an official Star Trek-related account on Twitter has taken the excitement sky high. The tweet was posted from the @Roddenberry account, which is the official account of the entertainment company of the late Star Trek creator, Gene Roddenberry. The post from the account hinted that Apple’s virtual assistant Siri may soon get the voice of Star Trek’s computer on the iconic fictional spacecraft, the Enterprise.

The tweet by the Roddenberry account mentions ‘Majel’s voice’, which refers to the voice of late Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, who was Gene Roddenberry’s wife, and she gave the voice of the ship’s computer in four sequels in the Star Trek series. Essentially, the post suggested that the entertainment company has recorded the voice of Majel and it is working on bringing her voice to Apple’s Siri, and its upcoming sequel in the series, the Star Trek: Discovery.
It is absolutely amazing how the tweet was timed. The Twitter post was put up three days ago, just in time for the 50 years anniversary of the show on September 8, and right ahead of tonight’s Apple event. Although the post by Roddenberry or Apple itself have confirmed nothing in this regard, but the announcement of Siri getting the Star Trek voice could be one of those surprises Apple always has reserved for its fans. If Star Trek and Apple come together on this day, tonight’s Apple event will turn historic.
Besides that, even if the Star Trek voice for Siri is not scheduled for today on Apple’s calendar, fans and viewers still have a lot to look forward too. Other than the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and the Watch 2 themselves, the event today also highly anticipates the revelation if the two iPhones will feature a 3.5mm audio jack or not. This discussion has been going on since forever now, and the social media is going crazy about it. Multiple leaks suggest that the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus will no more feature a physical button, but it will sport a revamped Touch ID fingerprint sensor, which will be a capacitive touch button. It may also include pressure sensitive Force Touch support, just like the one on the new MacBook and MacBook Pro. Furthermore, the new Touch ID also hints at the probability of the iPhones being waterproof.
