Twitter is currently in talks with Apple to livestream National Football League (NFL) games on Apple TV. The news followed a surge in Twitter’s stocks which could possibly bring back Twitter from its failing growth.

In a move to strengthen its live video streaming service, Twitter is reportedly talking with Apple to bring National Football League (NFL) games live to Apple TV. This news led to a surge in Twitter stocks, giving hope to investors that such a deal can help Twitter come out of the sluggish user growth and falling revenues. The availability of Twitter app on Apple TV will help reach more people as they love watching live sports on TVs and not on a mobile app or desktop, The Verge reported.

“Such a partnership might also complement Apple’s plans for the TV business,” the report added. Apple TV has more than 10 million customers in the US. In April, Twitter secured the rights to live stream NFL games. It is known that Twitter will make money from advertising when it streams 10 NFL games later this year. Twitter also live streamed the Wimbledon coverage and is also in talks with the NBA, Major League Soccer (MLS) and Turner for more streaming rights. As of the second quarter of 2016, the micro-blogging service averaged at 313 million monthly active users.

There is a media report which also says that Twitter may now bring the “night mode” for iPhone users. Last month Twitter updated its Android app and added a dark-themed mode for night time viewing to make it a little easier on the eyes. The setting is only available for beta users. The feature can be found in the app’s main menu where users can easily switch it on or off, tech website.
