Xiaomi’s Mi Note 2 with Samsung Galaxy Note 7-like dual curved edge display spotted on certification website. The phablet is expected to launch on September 14.

Xiaomi’s yet to be announced Mi Note 2 has been subjected to a lot of leaks and rumors over the past few months. We have already come across leaked photos and renders of the phablet that show off the dual edge curved display, just like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Now, the phablet has also passed China’s 3C (China Compulsory Certification), hinting that the Mi Note 2 launch could be closer. However, it is worth pointing out that the phablet hasn’t cleared TENAA as yet.

Based on what we can see in the recently leaked renders, the Mi Note 2 features a dual-edge curved glass display on the front, and a glass back panel, just like the Mi 5. The Mi Note 2 renders also show off the dual camera setup at the back. The front panel also houses a physical home button below the display, which is also expected to double as a fingerprint scanner. While the left edge is likely to house slots for SIM card tray, the right panel has a volume rocker and power / sleep button. The bottom of the phablet shows the USB Type-C port flanked by the speaker grill, whereas the top houses a 3.5mm audio port.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 specifications

Based on the leaks that we have come across the Mi Note 2 is likely to flaunt a 5.7-inch QHD super AMOLED dual edge curved display. There have been reports that Xiaomi may get the panels from Samsung, the same one that it uses on the Galaxy Note 7. At the heart of the phablet, it could either be powered by Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset, or slightly beefy Snapdragon 821 quad-core chipset. It is expected to be offered in three variants — 32GB storage + 4GB RAM, 64GB storage + 6GB RAM, and 128GB + 6GB RAM.

In the camera department – 16-megapixel dual camera setup is expected at the back. It could be Xiaomi’s second smartphone to sport dual camera setup, with the first one being Redmi Pro. The dual cameras would allow users to refocus the photos by adding DSLR-like blur effects.

To keep things ticking, the Mi Note 2 could be armed with a 4,000mAh battery along with Quick Charge 3.0 support. On the connectivity front, 4G LTE with VoLTE voice calling support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C port are expected. The phablet could run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based MIUI 8 out of the box.

On the pricing front, the 64GB variant could set you back by RMB 2,499 (approximately Rs 25,200), whereas the 128GB variant could be priced at RMB 2,799 (approximately Rs 28,200). Rumors point to September 14 unveiling, with it going on sale starting September 24.
