Xiaomi Redmi 4A was launched in China in November last year, and in India it is expected to be priced around Rs 6,000.

Launched late last year in China, Xiaomi is ready to bring the affordable Redmi 4A to India. In an invite sent out to the media, Xiaomi announced an event today in New Delhi, which kicks off at 1.15 PM. While the invite does not read the words Redmi 4A per se, the “Time To Get Smarter’ tag line and the font clearly teases the smartphone.

The Redmi 4A was launched alongside the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime in Xiaomi’s home country, and was the cheapest of the lot, where it was priced at RMB 599, which translates to approximately Rs 6,000. While the pricing will only be revealed today, we already know that the Redmi 4A will be an Amazon India exclusive.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A specification and features

As for the guts and skin of the smartphone, the Redmi 4A, wrapped in a premium looking metal body, features a 5-inch IPS screen with 720p resolution. It will be powered by a four-core Snapdragon 425 chipset with a 1.4GHz Cortex-A53 processor and Adreno 308 GPU, which will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM. For memory, the Redmi 4A offers 16GB built-in storage, which is expandable using a microSD card (via a hybrid SIM slot).

As for photography, the Redmi 4A will sport a 13-megapixel primary camera, which will be accompanied by a single LED flash. On the front, it will come with a 5-megapixel camera. Although the smartphone doesn’t get a fingerprint scanner, but a decent 3,120mAh battery will be fuelling it. The smartphone will run MIUI 8 based on Android Marshmallow. Back in China, the Redmi 4A was launched in gold and rose gold color variants.

Recently, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 4 in India, with prices starting from Rs 9,999. If we were to put things in perspective, the Redmi Note 4 features a 5.5-inch full HD display, sports a 13-megapixel PDAF rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC. The Redmi Note 4 is offered in three variants – 2GB RAM + 32GB storage priced at Rs 9,999, the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage priced at Rs 10,999, and the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage priced at Rs 12,999. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Review
