Here’s how you can follow the Gionee A1 launch event live.
After Gionee unveiled the A1 at MWC 2017, the smartphone’s India launch was due. Since the device has already been showcased at MWC, most details about the device is already known. What’s not known though, is the pricing and availability of the smartphone in India. Those details would be revealed by the company at an event in India today, where it will be officially launching the device. The event kicks off at 12PM and you can catch all the action live here.
The smartphone, when showcased at MWC 2017 was accompanied by a larger ‘Plus’ variant. However, it is still unclear if the A1 Plus will make its Indian debut today. The Gionee A1 and A1 Plus smartphones are targeted at selfie lovers with the former sporting a 13-megapixel selfie camera and the latter a 20-megapixel front-facing camera. Both the smartphones come with a fingerprint sensor which is placed at the back below the camera lens and is said to unlock within 0.2 seconds.

The Gionee A1 was launched at a price of 349 Euros which is approximately Rs 24,500 while the A1 Plus carried a price tag of 449 Euros which is roughly Rs 31,500. If the official Indian prices fall into the same bracket then the smartphone will face tough competition with the likes of OnePlus 3T and recently launched Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) and Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) under the Rs 30,000- price bracket. Gionee A1 specifications
To recap, the Gionee A1 smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD display. At the heart, there is a MediaTek Helio P10 processor which is paired with 4GB of RAM. Also on offer is 64GB of internal storage, with the option of expanding further via a microSD card. In the camera department, the smartphone features a 16-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and LED flash. The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera. Armed with a 4,010mAh battery, the smartphone further comes with fast charging support and offers connectivity options like dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and USB OTG. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat wrapped under Amigo OS.
Gionee A1 Plus specifications
The Gionee A1 Plus smartphone features a 6-inch full HD display. It runs a MediaTek Helio P25 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage which can be further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.
The smartphone sports a 20-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera comes with Bokeh-Selfie Mode feature. The smartphone houses a pair of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors at the rear end.
The Gionee A1 Plus smartphone is powered by a 4,550mAh battery and also features ultrafast charging system. Running on Android 7.0 Nougat wrapped under Amigo OS, the smartphone offers connectivity options like dual-SIM support, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB OTG.
