Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 renders suggest it will feature close to 100 percent screen-to-body ratio.
Xiaomi launched the Mi MIX last year in China, and it created waves for being the first-ever smartphone with a nearly bezel-less design. Lately, the rumor mills have been buzzing about the imminent launch of the Mi MIX 2, with multiple renders and concept images spotted online. Now, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 has been listed on China’s e-commerce portal GearBest, which allegedly reveals the upcoming smartphone’s key specifications and features.
The GearBest listing shows what the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 could look like, but the image looks more like a concept than an actual device. While the sides continue to be bezel-free, the top and the bottom too seem to have no bezels. The front of the device is an all glass wonder. Also missing are the earpiece grille, sensors and the front camera.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun recently confirmed that the Mi MIX 2 will be designed by Philippe Starck. The phone is not really expected to come with a 100 percent screen-to-body ratio, but instead it will be somewhere above 93 percent. This is still better than the Mi MIX’s 91 percent screen-to-body ratio.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 features, specifications
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, like its predecessor, will come with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display sporting a resolution of 2540×1440 pixels. Under the hood is expected to be a Snapdragon 835 SoC, which is not surprising when you consider Xiaomi’s Mi 6 too comes with Qualcomm’s latest processor.
The smartphone is expected to come in three internal memory variants — 128GB with 4GB RAM, 128GB with 6GB RAM, and a high-end 256GB with 8GB RAM. The phone will run on Android Nougat OS out-of-the-box.
The listing shows a single 19-megapixel camera setup at the back, though multiple leaks have previously hinted at a dual-camera module. The Mi 6 was launched with a dual-camera setup similar to what you see on the Apple iPhone 7 Plus — 12-megapixel wide-angle lens + 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The listing also suggests that the Mi MIX 2 will come with a fingerprint sensor embedded below the display, dual-SIM card slots, and a 4,500mAh battery. The online retailer has already activated the ‘Arrival Notice’ button, which users can click on and register to get more details regarding the launch of the device. It is still the early days though and looking at the questionable render, it might be wise to take the specifications too with a pinch of salt.
