Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) spotted on Geekbench, Galaxy J5 (2017) receives FCC certification

These smartphones would be 2017 iteration of the Samsung Galaxy J series.


Samsung is expected to upgrade its Galaxy J series for this year soon with the Galaxy J3 (2017) and the Galaxy J5 (2017). The Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) was last spotted on benchmarking website GFXBench and the most recent update on the Galaxy J5 (2017) was a Wi-Fi certification. The latest developments include a Samsung smartphone with model number SM-J3305 appearing on Geekbench website believed to be the Galaxy J3 (2017) while the Galaxy J5 (2017) has been certified by the FCC in the US.

Starting with the Galaxy J3 (2017), the Geekbench listing reveals the smartphone with a single-core score of 631 and multi-core score of 1858. As per the listing, the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. Under the hood of the smartphone, runs an ARM v8 quad-core processor clocked at 1.43GHz paired with 2GB of RAM. The previous benchmark listing, however, revealed that the Galaxy J3 (2017) is powered by a Snapdragon quad-core processor and paired with 1.5GB of RAM. The smartphone also runs an older Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on the software front.

As for the rest of the specifications, the Galaxy J3 (2017) is expected to feature a 5-inch HD display. The smartphone is said to come with 16GB of storage. For photography, the Galaxy J3 (2017) could sport a 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus, face detection, and HDR. Up front, the smartphone could house a 2-megapixel selfie camera. Coming to the Galaxy J5 (2017), the smartphone bearing model number SM-J530FM/DS was certified by the US FCC. The certification, however, did not reveal any details on the specifications, as expected. The Galaxy J5 (2017) has been making appearances online and is expected to feature an HD display sized between 4.8-inch and 5-inch. At the core of the smartphone, it could run Samsung’s Exynos 7870 SoC paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage.

In the photography department, the Galaxy J5 (2017) is rumored to sport a 13-megapixel rear camera. There are no details on the selfie camera as yet. On the software front, the Galaxy J5 (2017) is expected to run on either Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Some reports suggest the Android 7.0 Nougat as the OS for the smartphone. The Galaxy J7 (2017) is also expected to join the 2017 Samsung Galaxy J series this year. The Galaxy J7 (2017) is expected to come with a design change that is a new metal strip at the rear. The smartphone could feature a 5.5-inch full HD display and run Exynos chipset under its hood. In terms of memory, the Galaxy J7 (2017) is said to come with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. For photography, the Galaxy J7 (2017) could sport a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. Keeping the smartphone ticking could be a 3,000mAh battery.
