Now, save your parking spot location on Google Maps.
Google Maps has of late added several new features focused on making the user experience better. Today, Google has rolled out another nifty feature to the app that allows users to easily save location of a parking spot. The feature called “save your parking” was first rolled out to Google Maps beta users last month. Now, the update is rolling out for all users, both on Android and iOS.
Talking about the Android version, Google Maps users have to simply tap on the blue dot on the Maps. Clicking on the button a drop down list will appear. This will give you an option to ‘Save your Parking’. Tapping on the option will save the parking location. The label also shows you the time it will take for you to reach the parking spot.
Clicking on the label will show some extra information like the level of parking and the time till which the parking is saved for you. Once the parking location is saved, users will be able to see where the car was parked. Apart from that, users can also add a note and add the amount of time left before the meter expires. You can even set an alarm for 15 minutes before the meter expires. Additionally, the Google lets you save an image of your parking spot, and also share the parking location with your friends.
On iOS, the new Google Maps feature works in a similar way. Users can tap on the blue dot and then select ‘Set as parking location’ from the drop down menu. However, Google’s Jeff Albertson, Product Manager notes that the feature is an addition to the automatic parking detection that iOS users for Google Maps already have.
Amongst the recent updates to Google Maps, the California-based search firm has also included the ability to share your trips and real-time location as well. Apart from this, Google Maps also comes with a feature called Lists, which is available for both Android and iOS devices. The feature lets you make a list of places to visit, eating joints and more. The list can then be shared with close contacts as well as can be made public for others to view.
Google recently extended its Transit feature to more cities in India. The feature allows Google to show bus routes and stops, including details such as departure and arrival times, the names of bus stands and even where to change buses. The feature is available in 16 cities across the country.
