Asus ZenFone 3 price in India slashed, now starts at Rs 17,999: Here’s everything you need to know

The price-cut comes right before the expected Asus ZenFone 4 series launch.


Ahead of Zenfone 4-series launch later this month, Asus has given a price cut to its ZenFone 3 models - ZE552KL and ZE520KL. Post price cut, the ZenFone 3 ZE520KL is available for Rs 17,999 compared to the launch price of Rs 21,999. Also, the ZE552KL model will now retail for Rs 19,999 instead of Rs 27,999.

Talking about the price cut, Peter Chang, Region Head – South Asia & Country Manager for Asus India said, “Zenfone 3 series, has been globally awarded and appreciated for its, camera capabilities, classy yet contemporary design and high-end performance. Taking it forward, we plan to introduce an exciting range of products this year and the price reduction of Zenfone 3 is a precursor to the forthcoming product line-up.” The new prices are immediately applicable and the devices are available in Asus Stories as well as retail outlets/e-commerce portals in the country.

Asus ZenFone 3 ZE552KL, ZE520KL specifications

Both the Asus ZenFone 3 smartphone variants run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box. Asus has also started seeding Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade. Both smartphones feature Full HD displays – the mode ZE552KL comes with a 5.5-inch screen, whereas the ZE520KL comes with a 5.2-inch screen. Both the smartphones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC and features 32GB of internal storage. The larger ZenFone 3 ZE552KL model comes with 4GB RAM, whereas the ZenFone 3 ZE520KL model features 3GB RAM.

The devices sport 16-megapixel rear end camera with flash and 8-megapixel selfie camera with PixelMaster 3.0 technology. The larger ZenFone 3 model comes with a 3,000mAh battery while the smaller variant comes with 2,650mAh battery. The phones are 4G LTE and VoLTE compliant.

Asus is also rumored to announce ZenFone 4 series smartphones – Asus ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4S and ZenFone 4 Max, later this month. Of the 3, the ZenFone 4 will be the premium model device whereas, the Asus ZenFone 4 Max will be the most budget variant. Recent leaks have suggested Asus ZenFone 4 Max will come with a large 5.5-inch FHD display and a Snapdragon 630 or Snapdragon 660 SoC. The battery is likely to be a 4,000mAh or 5,000mAh and there are also rumors of a dual camera set-up at the back. The phone is also expected to feature a fingerprint sensor button. Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom recently went up for sale in the US. The device which launched at a price tag of $399 (approx. Rs 26,000) is up for sale with a discount at $329 (approx. Rs 21,500). The successor to the original Asus ZenFone Zoom is expected to arrive in India soon, though there is no official date shared by Asus.
