In the past five months, while some significant launches have already taken place (read Samsung Galaxy S8, Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6, among others), there are a bunch of more Android smartphones that are believed to be in the works and are expected to be launched this year. Naturally, with so much anticipation, the leaks and speculations also come in big chunks. And so to make things easier, we bring you a roundup of the latest leaks of the most anticipated smartphones so far.
Nokia 9
To begin with, despite the launch of the nostalgia-loaded Nokia 3310, all eyes are still on the Nokia flagship Android device. While earlier it was believed that Nokia may launch two high-end flagship smartphones, the Nokia 9 and Nokia 8, eventually the rumors turned around to the speculation that Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 would probably be the same phones. Now, there have been quite a bit leaks around the Nokia 9, but the latest is the probability of the device being equipped with 8GB of RAM.
While we came across one leak with similar claims yesterday, another benchmark listing leak has hinted at the similar vitals today. So if these leaks are to be believed, the flagship Nokia smartphone will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, with 8GB of RAM. In the past, we have also learnt, that the Nokia 9 could feature a 5.27-inch display, with 1440 x 2560 pixels of resolution. However, past leaks have shown a bit discrepancy in terms of the on-board RAM, with some hinting at 4GB or 6GB of RAM as well. Most leaks though have suggested 64GB of internal storage, and an Android Nougat 7.1.1 operating system running the device.
Other than that, with the camera being the highlight of the smartphone, reports indicate that it would feature a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel rear camera module for DSLR-like effects. nubia Z17
Besides the Nokia 9, another phone has recently been tipped to be equipped with 8GB of RAM, and that is the nubia Z17. While the Nokia 9’s RAM is a speculation, the nubia smartphone’s has apparently been confirmed by the company officials in China. Although, there are rumors that beside the 8GB RAM variant, the nubia Z17 will also come in two other cheaper variants with 4GB and 6GB of RAM onboard.
Additionally, the most recent leak also suggests that the smartphone may feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display with haptic engine. Like most of the high-end smartphones, it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, and a dual camera setup on the rear and a 12-megapixel camera sensor on the front. Xiaomi Mi Note 3
Following a slew of leaks around the device, the latest is an alleged render of the smartphone which shows off the rumored dual-camera setup on the device. For quite some time, the Mi Note 3 has been rumored to feature a dual-camera setup, however the details have remained scanty. Though, there have been reports claiming that the Mi Note 3’s dual-camera will be similar to the pair on the Mi 6, which means a pair of 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with 4-axis optical image stabilization (OIS), and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. And just in line with that rumor, the render shows the Mi Note 3′s dual-cameras placed on the top-left corner much like the Mi 6. Besides that, the render also throws light on the design of the smartphone, which reveals a dual-edge curved display with a physical home button upfront, and thin bezel on the top where you also find the front-facing camera lens. While the back panel isn’t visible in this leak, the Mi Note 3 is rumored to be wrapped in a glass back. Apple iPhone 8
Moving on to probably one of the biggest launches of the year, the Apple iPhone 8. The latest word has it, that the anniversary edition iPhone will be slightly larger than the iPhone 7. The leak claims the iPhone 8 will measure 143.59×70.94×7.57 mm, as compared to the 138.3×67.1×7.1 mm dimension of the iPhone 7. This also makes the iPhone 8 slightly thicker than the iPhone 7 Plus, which measures 158.2×77.9×7.3 mm. The leak also hints at a near-bezel-less display.
Further, the last round of leaks revealed the iPhone 8’s design and Touch ID embedded under the screen, which is believed to be an OLED one. The back has dual-cameras. The leak also revealed the top of the front panel has sensors, dual front cameras. The base has speaker, lightning port and a wireless charging module. And if we account for the rumors so far, the iPhone 8 will be accompanied by the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus with former being a special edition. Expected features on the iPhone 8 include Apple’s latest A11 processor, 5.8-inch curved OLED display, 3D-sensing front cameras and dual-cameras on the back.
Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017)
Then there is the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017), which is rumored to be the first of smartphones from Samsung to come with a dual-camera setup. In the most recent leak, a tipster has posted images of a casing of the alleged Samsung J7 (2017), which shows a cavity for a dual-camera setup on the device.
As for other specifications, the Galaxy J7 (2017) is expected to come with a 5.5-inch 1080p display. Under the hood, the device is believed to be powered by an octa-core Exynos 7870 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage. The smartphone could be fuelled by a 3600mAh battery. Moto E4
Another well-anticipated device is the mid-range Moto E4, which has recently been leaked in the expected color options it could come with. The leaked images the purported Moto E4 shells hint at a gold, dark grey, and blue color options.
Besides, the Moto E4 is expected to start shipping on July 17. Even the pricing of the device has been rumored, that is in Canada, where it is expected to retail at CAD 249.99, which translates to about Rs 12,000. Not long ago, there was another leak which speculated the Moto E4 to be priced at €150 in Europe (for the unlocked model), which is also about Rs 11,000 when converted.
As for other past leaks, the Moto E4 is expected to feature a 5-inch HD (720p) LCD display, a MediaTek MT6737M quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, and 2GB of RAM. There is also 16GB of internal storage, which will be expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. For photography, the smartphone is believed to sport an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Fuelling the device will be a 2,800mAh battery, and will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Xiaomi Redmi 5
Another Xiaomi phone has been tipped recently, which is the Redmi 5. Some render images of the alleged device have surface online lately, which reveal a plastics body, Moreover, one of the leaked images is of internally stored information about the device and shows it to be powered by an ARM processor clocked at 2GHz. Additionally, the leaked image also show the device sans a rear fingerprint sensor and a front sensor or flash also appears to be absent.
Samsung Flip phone
Samsung has long been rumored to be working on another Flip Phone, after it launched the W2017 flip phone last year, and the upcoming smartphone has again been leaked on the web. The Flip Phone is expected to be a high-end device, and it has recently been certified by TENAA in China, carrying the model number SM-G9298. The smartphone, likely to be called the Samsung W2018, looks quite similar to the W2017, with a few differences here and there. According to the listing on TENAA, it sports two 4.2-inch Full HD displays. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 821AB chipset, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and will be backed by a 2,300 mAh battery. For photography, the new flip phone is tipped to sport a 12-megapixel primary camera, and a 5-megapixel front camera.
HTC One M8
Lastly, a matte black variant of 2014’s HTC One M8 has leaked. If the leaked images are to be believed, the new HTC One M8 will look strikingly similar to the original HTC one. It also sticks with the company’s famous large dual front-facing speakers that covered the majority of the top and bottom bezel, though in a much simpler speaker design.
However, the render still shows the device sans a dual camera setup. On the inside of the model, HTC is believed to equip it with 16GB of internal storage alongside a microSD slot, a 2,600mAh battery, and Android Marshmallow, though the model is now running a custom Android Nougat ROM.
