Xiaomi Mi 5s live photo reveals Apple iPhone-like circular home button

The Xiaomi Mi 5s has now been spotted on AnTuTu with an impressive score of 164,002, surpassing the likes of OnePlus 3, ZUK Z2 Pro and HTC 10. The smartphone is set to launch on September 27 in China.

Earlier this week, Xiaomi sent out media invites for an event in China on September. The company is expected to launch the Mi 5s at the event. From leaked renders to live photos showing iPhone-like circular home button, a lot of details about the smartphone have already surfaced online. The smartphone recently also made its way to benchmarking sites such as GeekBench and GFX Bench, revealing some of its key specifications and features. Now, ahead of the September 27 launch, the Xiaomi Mi 5s has been spotted on AnTuTu benchmark.

Spotted by AndroidPure, the Mi 5s has logged an impressive score of 164,002 on AnTuTu. The score is pretty impressive compared to the OnePlus 3, which scored 140,288. It also outperformed the ZUK Z2 Pro and HTC 10, which scored 136,853 and 133,217 respectively. But the score is not as impressive as the Apple iPhone 7, which scored 178,397. The pre-release benchmarks, particularly the unverified ones, should only be taken as a guideline, and it does not necessarily reflect the real-world performance. We’ve come across smartphones with powerful hardware, but they lag and stutter due to poor software optimization. Also, there are times where manufacturers over clock the processor and RAM to achieve the higher benchmark scores. So, it’s better to not get carried away with the benchmark results.

Xiaomi Mi 5s specifications

The smartphone is likely to flaunt a 5.15-inch full HD (1080p) display with Force Touch features, just like 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s and above iPhones. Under the hood, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 quad-core chipset clocked at 2.4GHz is expected, along with 6GB of RAM and Adreno 530GPU. Onboard storage option of 256GB (UFS 2.0) is also likely to be in tow.

In the camera department, the Mi 5s is could sport a 16-megapixel rear camera of aperture f/1.9 with PDAF and 4-axis optical image stabilization (OIS). The aperture size is slightly larger than f/2.0 on the existing Mi 5. The battery could also get a boost to 3,490mAh, compared to 3,000mAh on the Mi 5. With connectivity options such as USB Type-C port, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and Wi-Fi 802.11, the smartphone could run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based MIUI 8 out of the box. Rumors also point at Xiaomi including Qualcomm’s ultrasonic Sense ID fingerprint scanner. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Mi 5s could ditch home button, use Qualcomm’s Sense ID fingerprint scanner instead

Interestingly, a third-party retailer in China had recently listed an over-clocked version of Mi 5, called the Mi 5 ‘Extreme’. The smartphoe was listed with a price tag of RMB 1,999 (approximately Rs 20,200). Specifications and features of his ‘Extreme’ variant are same as the Xiaomi Mi 5, but with Snapdragon 820 chipset over clocked to 2.15GHz, Adreno 530 GPU beefed up to 624MHz (compared to 510Mhz), and RAM over clocked to 1,866MHz (compared to 1,333MHz). However, it is purely something that third-party vendor is offering and not Xiaomi itself. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Mi 5s leaked render reveals dual-camera setup at the back
