The Micromax Canvas 1 is among rare budget smartphones to run Android Nougat out-of-the-box.
Micromax has announced the launched of a new smartphone called the Micromax Canvas 1. Priced at Rs 6,999, the smartphone is 4G VoLTE compliant and runs the latest Android Nougat. The smartphone will be competing against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Moto E4.
The Canvas 1 follows the recently announced Micromax Canvas 2. The smartphone will be available for purchase across e-commerce portals as well as conventional brick and mortar stores in the country. Micromax is also offering a 100-day replacement offer with the Micromax Canvas 1. In the case of any issue with the device, the company says the smartphone will be replaced, no questions asked. The phone is available in two black color options in India – Matte Black and Chrome Black.
Micromax Canvas 1 features, specifications
The Micromax Canvas 1 comes in a sleek unibody design. It comes with slim bezels on the edges and front comes with the selfie camera module, the earpiece grille, and the display. There is no fingerprint sensor on the bottom. Instead, it features touch enabled menu buttons. The rear houses the horizontal camera setup with flash. Right below the camera is the Micromax logo. In terms of specifications, the Micromax Canvas 1 comes with a 5-inch HD display (720p) and is covered by Corning Gorilla 2.5D glass. The device is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.3Ghz. The internal storage is at 16 GB (expandable up to 32GB) and the RAM is 2GB. The Micromax Canvas 1 runs Android Nougat OS out-of-the-box.
On the rear is the 8-megapixel camera module with dual-tone LED flash. The front selfie camera is a 5-megapixel shooter and also comes with a front flash for selfies. On the connectivity front, Micromax Canvas 1 supports dual-SIM, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB 2.0 port, Wi-Fi, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, and GPS. A 2,500mAh battery runs the smartphone. According to the company, the battery provides 180 hours standby time and 7 hours talktime.
