
Launch date for Xiaomi's first smartphone under Lanmi brand confirmed!
Just yesterday we came across a Xiaomi promo poster hinting at an imminent launch of the X5 smartphone. However, today yet another teaser image has surfaced online, giving a sneak peak at what the smartphone might look like. Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Mi 5X smartphone will run the new MIUI 9 on top and will be announced on July 26 at an event in China. The Xiaomi 5X will be the first smartphone to launch under the company’s new brand Lanmi.
The promo poster was spotted on Weibo showing off the back of the phone. According to the poster, the Xiaomi 5X will come with dual rear cameras along with dual-tone LED flash and a fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is also expected to feature a metal unibody design and you can also spot the Mi logo at the bottom side. While the poster reveals a gold color variant of the smartphone, it is likely that we might also see black color variants during the launch.
According to past rumors, the Xiaomi X5 is expected to be priced at 1,999 yuan which is approximately Rs 19,000. In terms of specifications, the smartphone is expected to come with a 5.5-inch full HD display. Under the hood, the smartphone is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 625 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. Speculations also indicate that it may feature a Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. The smartphone could feature a dual camera which is expected to come with 5x optical zoom support. While the camera resolution is not known at the moment, few report suggests it to be similar to the one found on the iPhone 7 Plus smartphone. However, there is no confirmation on the same and so we would suggest you take this information with a pinch of salt. To recap, the Xiaomi 5X is said to fall under Lanmi brand, which the company launched to cater to the offline market in China. With Lanmi brand, Xiaomi aims to grab some market shares from the well-established offline retailers like Vivo and Oppo.
