Lenovo initially offered the armor case to Motorola Moto Z2 Play buyers but offered it only to offline buyers.
Lenovo announced the Moto Z2 Play smartphone under the Motorola brand nearly a month back and since then, the smartphone has already been purchased by many users. Along with the smartphone, Lenovo promised pre-order customers a free Armor Pack which contained a selfie stick, a carbon fiber back shell, and an aluminum case. The smartphone was sold not only exclusively over Flipkart, but also in brick and mortar stores. Lenovo however never made it official that the Armor Pack would be available only to one category of buyers and all pre-order customers assumed that they would get the case.
However, once the shipments began, most online customers were surprised to see that the Armor Pack was not shipped along with the smartphone. On raising the request with Flipkart and demanding an explanation, they were informed that the Pack is not available and the offer was not applicable for Flipkart buyers. The offer was only for offline retail customers. Considering Lenovo had never confirmed the same previously, many of the online buyers felt cheated and the reviews on Flipkart were mostly negative, with one or two stars. While Flipkart responded to the complaints saying that the offer was never mentioned on the site, the customers continued to vent as they paid the same price for the smartphone. As initially reported by IndiaToday, a month post the launch Flipkart and Lenovo have finally changed their stance and decided to offer the Armor Pack even to the online buyers. Flipkart has started sending out messages to online buyers requesting them to visit a link and fill a form within seven days to get the free pack. The Armor Pack contents stay the same and there is no change. Though Flipkart has still not mentioned a date as to when the Armor Packs will finally ship to customers, it is expected to be available soon after the 7-day period for registering ends. While many are happy with the new development, there are some who continue to be disappointed as the users purchased similar gadgets and are using them already. Getting the Armor Pack late has taken away some of the excitement. Lenovo has not commented on the matter. ALSO READ: Moto G5S Plus press render, specifications leaked ahead of July 25 launch
