
Huawei's Mate 10 is expected to sport a bezel-less display and 3D sensing dual cameras.
Huawei is expected to launch the successor to the Mate 9 later this year. The Huawei Mate 10 has been buzzing in the rumor mill for quite some time now. While leaks and rumors keep pouring for the Mate 10, a new report now reveals its launch date. It says that Huawei will launch the Mate 10 smartphone at an event in Munich on October 16. An affordable version called the Mate 10 Lite is also said to be unveiled at the event. The Mate 10 will cost around $1,114 (approximately Rs 70,900), while the Mate 10 Lite will be priced at $556 (approximately Rs 35,400).
This information comes from Polish website Tabletowo (spotted by GSMArena). Since Huawei hasn’t made any official announcement yet, it’s wise to take this information with a grain of salt. There isn’t anything known about the Mate 10 Lite, but the Mate 10 has been brought up in several occasions. The expectations on the Mate 10 are surely high, with Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu recently confirming a bezel-free display on the smartphone. He also said that with the Mate 10, Huawei will be able to take on Apple. Although the specifics were not mentioned, the Mate 10 is expected to feature a 6-inch Quad HD display with 18:9 screen-to-body ratio.
The Mate 10 could be powered by in-house Kirin 970 SoC with Cortex-A73 cores. This new and unreleased chipset is said to be at par with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC, and Samsung’s Exynos 8895 SoC. Richard Yu promised better photographing quality on the Mate 10 while being shush about the details. The dual-camera module is expected to be on the front as well, which would bring the total to four cameras. A fingerprint sensor embedded on the Home button is expected for the Mate 10. The smartphone could run onAndroid 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. Huawei is also reportedly working on an AI assistant for the Mate 10.
