Moto G5S, Moto G5S Plus to launch in India by end of this month

Moto G5S Moto G5S Plus launched

Some reports suggest the launch to be scheduled for August 22.


Just two weeks ago, Motorola launched the Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus in the international markets. Both the smartphones are essentially an upgrade over the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus smartphones, which were launched at MWC 2017. During its launch in Europe, the smartphones were scheduled to arrive in various countries, including India, by end of this month, followed by sale in US by this fall. And as promised, the Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus will reportedly launch in India on August 22.

Now, there is no official confirmation from Motorola about the specific date yet, but BGR India got in touch with Motorola representative, who confirmed that the India launch would take place by the end of this month.

Moto G5S, Moto G5S Plus price

To get an idea of how the smartphones will be priced, during their launch in Europe, Moto G5S was priced at €249 (Rs 18,900 approximately), and the Moto G5S Plus was priced at €299 (Rs 22,700 approximately). And so we can expect the new Moto duo to be priced around the same segment. The smartphones were launched in two color options – Lunar Gray and Fine Gold.

Moto G5S specifications and features

The Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus go through some changes under the hood, and on the exterior as well. Motorola has retained the all-metal unibody design, but with visible antenna lines running on the back of the smartphones. The front panel looks pretty much the same with the pill shaped home button intact. Amongst the upgrades, the biggest would be the dual-camera setup on the Moto G5S Plus, featuring two 13-megapixel sensors. The Moto G5S features a 5.2-inch full HD display. Under the hood, the smartphone runs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, which is the same as on the Moto G5. Its processor is supported by 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. In terms of optics, the Moto G5S sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. Up front, it has a 5-megapixel wide-angle camera with f/2.0 aperture, and LED flash too.

Fuelling the smartphone is a 3,000mAh battery, as compared to the 2,800mAh one on the Moto G5. It also comes with support for TurboPower charging, which claims to offer five hours of juice with 15 minutes of charge. Moto G5S Plus specifications and features

As for the Moto G5S Plus, it features a bigger 5.5-inch full HD display. It is powered by the same Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, as seen in the Moto G5 Plus. It comes in two variants, one which has 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage, and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Apart from the dual-camera module with two 13-megapixel sensors on the back, the smartphone also sports an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera with LED flash up front. The Moto G5S Plus is also fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery along with TurboCharge support, and will run on Android 7.1 Nougat.
