Huawei’s Kirin 970 is expected to compete with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC.
Huawei is all set to launch the Mate 10 smartphone on October 16 in Munich, Germany. The Huawei Mate 10 has been spotted quite frequently in the past few weeks, revealing its design and specifications as well. The smartphone is also expected to debut Huawei’s upcoming chipset, the Kirin 970 which is touted to be a direct competitor of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. A new leak now shows the possible innards of the Kirin 970 SoC.
According to the leak posted on Weibo (via GSMArena), a spec sheet shows the features of the alleged Kirin 970 SoC. The Kirin 970 SoC will house an octa-core CPU with four Cortex A-73 cores clocked at 2.8GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores with unknown frequency. The chipset will feature 64-bit ARM architecture, LPDDR4 memory with maximum frequency of 1866MHz. For graphics, it will come with Mali-G72 MP8 GPU.
For connectivity, the LTE modem will come with Cat.12 support. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and Bluetooth 4.2. Bluetooth 5 would have been highly expected on the Kirin 970 SoC. Lastly, it will be built on the 10nm fabrication process by TSMC.
