Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 leaks yet again ahead of the expected September 11 launch.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is yet to be announced but that doesn’t stop rumor mills from churning out leaks. The much-awaited successor to  Xiaomi’s bezel-less Mi MIX smartphone has surfaced online once gain. This time, a freshly leaked image reveals the front panel of the Mi MIX 2 which appears to carry even fewer bezels on the edges as compared to its predecessor.

According to SlashLeaks,  the alleged Mi MIX 2′s front panel has an apparent increase in screen-to-body ratio. The bezels are much thinner, with the display borders much immersive and nearly touching the borders. Also, the chin below the display is noticeably thinner compared to that on Mi MIX. The image leak goes in line with what company’s CEO Lei Jun confirmed earlier this year about the design of the second-generation bezel-less ’beauty’.

From what we know so far, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 will come with rounded display corners similar to what we have seen in most of the flagship smartphones this year. Most importantly, the front panel does not show any hole for home button or fingerprint scanner. This further implies that the fingerprint scanner can be moved at the back of the smartphone as is on the Mi MIX. Other reports suggest that Xiaomi may introduce 3D facial recognition technology for biometric unlocking and ditch fingerprint scanner altogether. It will house a 4,400mAh battery. ALSO READ: Xiaomi sells over 25 million smartphones in India in 3 years

In terms of features and specifications, the smartphone will feature a 6.2-inch display with a resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels. It is further said to be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 836 SoC aided by 6GB RAM. Reports also suggest that an 8GB RAM variant might also be on its way as well. With the latest MIUI announced last month, the company is likely to ship the smartphone with Android 7.0 Nougat based MIUI 9 OS out-of-the-box. Xiaomi is expected to make the Mi MIX 2 official on September 11 in China. Interestingly, the launch date falls around the Apple launch event and both the companies are reportedly betting high on minimal bezel smartphones out of their stable this year.
