Radio City becomes the first Indian radio station to join Apple Music streaming platform.
Indian radio network Radio City 91.1FM has joined hands with Apple to offer its curated playlist to Apple Music users. This will let music aficionados across the country to enjoy music that resonates with their personal tastes. The playlists would be a rare fusion of the radio station’s well-researched and mood-mapped music, which will help analyze the genres and styles of music preferred across different geographies, said Radio City in a press release.
Radio City says that it will curate playlists which will be based on a total of six distinct themes inspired by Radio City’s popular shows – ‘Love Guru’, ‘Radio City Top 25’, ‘Suno Na Dilli’ ‘Kasa Kaay Mumbai’, ‘Flashback Cassette’ and ‘Chillout Zone’. These playlists will include songs ranging from the 1980s to recent hits spanning across different genres of music. The FM channel will also update these playlists based on trends, and Apple Music users’ preferences.
These curated playlist by the FM channel are now available on Apple Music app, and can be accessed on iPod, iPhone, iPad, iTunes on the desktop and even the Android app. Apple Music users can find Radio City playlists by heading to Browse -> Playlists -> Curators, and play Radio City playlist from there. You can also go to www.apple.co/radiocityplaylist. Apple Music is a free app to download, however, users need to pay a monthly fee to stream music on the app. The music streaming service also comes with a three-month free trial, and users can terminate the subscription or continue at any point in time as per wish. Apple currently offers two subscription plans – Rs 120 per month limited to one user, and Rs 190 per month for up to six family members. Apple Music also has a subsidized plan for college or university students which can be subscribed for Rs 60 per month. Students will need to verify that they are currently enrolled in a university or college in order to be eligible for Apple Music Student plan.
