Gionee X1s with 16-megapixel front camera, 4,000mAH battery launched at Rs 12,999: Specifications, features

Last month Gionee launched a new X-series smartphone. The first smartphone to launch under this series was the Gionee X1. The smartphone was priced at Rs 8,999. Now, expanding the series further, Gionee has launched another smartphone called, X1s. Priced at Rs 12,999, the smartphone is said to go on sale starting September 21 across online and offline stores in the country.

The Gionee X1s is basically a variant of the X1 smartphone. Among its USP, there is a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling, along with a 4,000mAh battery. In addition to that, the smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with Amigo 4.0 layered above.

The smartphone features a metal unibody design. At the back, there is a camera module with the LED flash on the right-hand side. Right below the camera is the fingerprint scanner which the company claims will unlock your phone within 0.3 seconds. In terms of other specifications, the Gionee X1s comes with a 5.2-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top. Under the hood, quad-core MediaTek MT6737 64-bit SoC is paired with 3GB of RAM. There is 32GB of internal storage, which can be expandable up to 256GB with microSD card. For photography, there is a 13-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and supported with LED Flash.

At the given price, the Gionee X1s competes with smartphones such as the nubia M2 and Oppo A57.

The nubia M2 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, PDAF, image stabilization, 0.2 seconds capture time and f/2.2 aperture. The primary camera can shoot full HD  (1080p) videos at 30 frames per second. Up front, it has a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. The Oppo A57, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 14,990  and features a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and a beautification mode, Beautify 4.0, which the company claims delivers better selfies even in low light. Apart from that, it comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and PDAF laser focus.
