HMD Global’s Juho Sarvikas tweeted images of Android Oreo beta on the Nokia 8.
Lately, the Nokia 8 has been abuzz with reports of the smartphone receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update soon. Post HMD Global’s announcement of the Nokia 8 receiving Android Oreo, it was spotted on benchmarking website Geekbench. More confirmation arrives from HMD Global itself as its CPO, Juho Sarvikas tweeted images of the Nokia 8 with Android Oreo.
The images show the system update release for Android Oreo on the Nokia 8. This is however an upgrade to Oreo Beta, and the total file is sized around 1,300MB. Sarvikas’ tweet is accompanied with a caption which reads, “We are on it @nokiamobile . @Android #Oreo maturing nicely on #Nokia8 , will release when perfect. Stay tuned!”

With the Android Oreo beta available for Nokia 8, it shouldn’t be long till the stable version is released. In line with Sarvikas’ announcement made recently, the Nokia 8 is indeed getting the OS upgrade soon. A timeframe wasn’t provided for the Android Oreo release, but the duration seems pretty quick considering how the OS was officially rolled out earlier this month. In addition to Nokia 8, other Nokia smartphones are also confirmed for the update. These include the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6. HMD Global has been quite consistent with its promised upgrades with the most recent being Android 7.1.1 Nougat for the Nokia 3. As for the Nokia 3, 5, and 6 trio, the Android Oreo upgrade will possibly still take some time. The Nokia 8 is HMD Global’s most recent and expensive smartphone launched. More firsts include being the flagship device for HMD Global, and also to sport Carl ZEISS branded dual cameras. The smartphone is currently priced at €599 which translates to approximately Rs 45,000. HMD Global is expected to launch the Nokia 8 in India during Diwali next month.
