Is it the Honor 7X ?
Xiaomi launched its bezel-less Mi MIX 2 in India yesterday, and today, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has started sending out media invites for an unnamed device. The media invite shows off what appears to be a large sized phone with almost zero bezels on the sides. The launch event is scheduled for December 5 and will take place in London.
Last week, the company introduced its Honor 9i with dual-cameras on the front and the back. It is unclear as to which device the company is planning to launch in December. Recently, Honor 7X was spotted on certification website TENAA and its specifications appear to go well with the teaser invite.
Based on the listing, Honor 7X appears to feature a bezel-less display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Further specifications of the purported have been revealed through a separate listing on Geekbench. According to that listing, the smartphone will be the successor to the Honor 6X and will be equipped with Kirin 659 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. The phone could run Android 7.0 Nougat OS, likely to be layered with Honor’s own EMUI 5.1 on top. It is speculated that the phone will carry a price tag between CNY 1,799 and CNY 2,099, which translates to Rs 17,900 and Rs 20,999. Bezel-less phones have now become an industry fad after dual-cameras. Beginning with the original Mi MIX, which boasts around 83.6 percent screen-to-body ratio, the trend has followed in smartphones including the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Apple iPhone X, LG Q6, Micromax Canvas Infinity, and the more recently Xiaomi Mi MIX 2.
Talking about the Honor invite, while there are no specific details, there does appear to be a subtle hint around the presence of dual cameras. The hashtag used (#IOOI) could refer to the upcoming device featuring a dual-camera module. After the Honor 9i, it will be interesting to see if the mysterious device will continue to offer two cameras on the front and the back as well.
