Portrait mode is currently available on the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, and iPhone 8 Plus.
Samsung is working on a Portrait Mode for its flagship device, the Galaxy S8. If a recent statement from the company is to be believed, the Portrait mode feature can possibly land through a future software update that the company is said to be working on. Interestingly, unlike the Galaxy Note 8, the Galaxy S8 doesn’t have a dual-camera setup. But like the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, the Galaxy S8′s camera is likely to offer bokeh effects using software.
In an email sent to a customer, Samsung’s customer service representative was quoted as saying that the portrait mode feature will arrive with the next software update. The statement read, “there is no information yet, but we hope that you will get portrait mode update with the next SW”, GSMarena reports. Apple has made portrait mode mainstream ever since introducing it on last year’s iPhone 7 Plus. In this mode, you can click photos with the subject standing out against a blurred background. In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED display. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by an Exynos 8895 processor with 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 256GB) and 4GB RAM. On the camera front, the device sports a 12-megapixel rear camera, while on the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie snapper. Additionally, the smartphone also supports Samsung’s voice assistant – Bixby. The Galaxy S8 is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with TouchWiz UI.
