As people stormed stores to enjoy Black Friday sales, the world of technology also enjoyed a couple of interesting stories. To start with, Xiaomi launched a new Black Ceramic version and the special Philippe Starck edition of the Mi MIX 2 in China. Airtel announced a new plan offering 1GB data daily for its prepaid customers. Oppo made news for its new smartphone look which unsurprisingly sports an iPhone X-like design. Twitter is testing Bookmark feature for users to save tweets for later. Ending the day on a sweet note, HMD Global started rolling out Android Oreo update for the Nokia 8.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Black Ceramic and Philippe Starck edition

These newly launched variants of the Mi MIX 2 will go on sale in China starting November 28. The new editions are costlier than the existing models with the Starck Edition priced at 4,999 CNY (approximately Rs 49,000), and the Black Ceramic priced at 4,699 CNY (approximately Rs 46,000). These editions also differ in terms of memory as they come with 8GB of RAM. The base model of the Mi MIX 2 offers 6GB of RAM, and is also available in India at Rs 35,999.

Airtel’s new plan for prepaid users

Airtel’s new prepaid plan is priced at Rs 198 and comes with validity of 28 days. Airtel prepaid users get 1GB of 3G/4G data daily under this plan. However, this plan is available only for select customers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It can be found listed under the best offers section in My Airtel smartphone app.

Oppo R13 leak

Oppo does it again as its new R13 smartphone leaked shows a design quite similar to Apple’s iPhone X. The alleged Oppo R13 features an edge-to-edge display with a dual-camera setup at the rear aligned vertically. This smartphone is also seen featuring the iPhone X-like notch and a virtual Home bar. Other than the design details on the Oppo R13 are still scarce. Oppo has been known to copy Apple’s iPhone designs which are quite evident in its latest R11s smartphone series as well.

Twitter Bookmark feature

Twitter is running tests for a new feature called Bookmark. This feature comes from Twitter’s plans for a ‘Save for Later’ feature announced sometime back. As the name suggests, Bookmark will allow you to save tweets for later. The saved tweets can be accessed through your Twitter profile and will be available with Lists and Moments.

Nokia 8 Android Oreo update

Keeping its promise, HMD Global today rolled out Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Nokia 8. The update will gradually roll out to all countries where the Nokia 8 is available. You will get a notification arrives and the smartphone will start updating automatically. Nokia 8 users will get to experience Android Oreo features like Picture-in-Picture mode and Android Instant Apps, among others. There will be no pre-installed apps, no skins, and also no changes in the UI with this update.

HMD Global’s cheapest smartphone, the Nokia 2 also went on sale in India today. The smartphone is priced at Rs 6,999 and is available for purchase across major retail stores.
