Christmas is just around the corner, and OnePlus believes a dash of Red will be useful to further popularize its OnePlus 5T. The company has announced a new ‘Lava Red’ variant of its latest smartphone, which packs same features as the existing model. However, it is exclusive to China at the moment.
The special edition comes with a rear panel that is soaked in red, with the dual-camera unit standing out in black. The OnePlus logo is retained in the natural black color at the back panel, however, it blends well with the overall appearance. Right from the antenna bands, fingerprint sensor, to the mute key, the red color dominates all. However, up front, the display remains in the regular black, low-bezel appearance.
Although the phone is listed on the official OnePlus China store, at the time of writing there was no option to select the Lava Red model while making a purchase. Nonetheless, the phone’s pricing on the overview page is mentioned as RMB 2,999 onwards. In India, the base model with 6GB of RAM costs Rs 32,999, while the high-end 8GB RAM model is priced at Rs 37,999. It is unclear if the Lava Red model will make it to the Indian market anytime soon.
OnePlus 5T specifications, features
As a variant to the OnePlus 5, the 5T brings a number of design upgrades and subtle enhancements here and there. To begin with, the OnePlus 5T features a 6.01-inch Optic AMOLED display with full HD+ (2160×1080 pixels) resolution, and 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection.
Under the hood is a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM with 64GB/128GB of internal storage. For optics, there’s a dual-camera setup at the back with a combination of 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel sensors. Up front, there is a 16-megapixel camera with a dedicated flash.
On the software front, the OnePlus 5T runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat based on OxygenOS 4.7.0 out-of-the-box. It is fueled by a 3,300mAh battery with support for Dash Charge format. Connectivity options include dual-SIM with VoLTE support, Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi.
