Xiaomi has announced a permanent price drop for its Mi A1 smartphone. With a Rs 1,000 cut, the smartphone is now available for Rs 13,999 on both Flipkart and mi.com. The price cut was announced by Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain via Twitter.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 was launched in India back in September with a price tag of Rs 14,999. Buyers can choose from three color options – Black, Gold and Rose Gold. While the smartphone gets a permanent Rs 1,000 price cut, it isn’t the only one in recent times. Last week as a part of Flipkart’s Big Shopping Days sale, the smartphone was available for as low as Rs 12,999.

What’s interesting about this price cut though is the overall timing. The first price slash during the Flipkart sale was announced moments after the India launch of the new Honor 7X. Prices for the new Honor smartphone start from Rs 12,999, and it is solely targeted at Xiaomi’s smartphone.

Xiaomi Mi A1 specifications, features

The Xiaomi Mi A1 is a part of Google’s Android One initiative, and hence it runs on stock Android Nougat. It is also set to get the Oreo update before the end of this year.

As for specifications, it comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC under the hood, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of expandable internal storage.

The Mi A1 also features a dual-camera setup (12-megapixel wide-angle lens+12-megapixel telephoto lens), 5-megapixel front camera, fingerprint sensor at the back, and a 3,080mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G VoLTE support, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port.

In comparison, the new Honor 7X has been launched in two variants – 32GB variant priced at Rs 12,999, and 64GB variant priced at Rs 15,999. The smartphone comes with a 5.93-inch full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9, Kirin 659 octa-core SoC, 4GB of RAM, and microSD card slot.

The smartphone features a dual-camera setup (16-megapixel+2-megapixel), 8-megapixel front camera, 3,340mAh battery, and a fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. On the software front, the Honor 7X runs on Android 7.0 Nougat-based EMUI 5.1.
