We already know that Samsung is working on the Android 8.0 Oreo update for its 2017 flagship devices, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Now, the latest report suggests that Samsung has begun roll-out of the 4th beta of its Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ users.  Currently, both the smartphones run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.

According to a report by SamMobile, a Samsung representative from the UK Beta team has hinted that the final version of the Oreo update could be released by the end of January or “maybe early February”. Recently, Samsung has rolled out the third beta update of Oreo. The representational image mentions that beta 4 is going to be released “very, very soon.” However, reports also suggest that Oreo Beta 4 is live in Europe for smartphones with model number SM-G950F and SM-G955F. The new update is said to fix bugs from the previous beta rollout.

Android 8.0 Oreo update will bring in a host of features that will boost performance, increase battery life, and make the system more secure. Some of the new features from the eighth iteration of Android include split-screen capabilities, smart text selection, improved notifications, auto fill framework, and Google Play Protect.

Google has recently revealed its Android platform distribution numbers for the month of December. According to the listing, Android 8.0 Oreo has an active install base of 0.5 percent, a marginal growth over 0.3 percent recorded last month. Android 7.0 Nougat and Android 7.1 Nougat, on the other hand, have a combined market share of 23.3 percent.
