Sharp is all set to launch the successor to last year’s Aquos S2. The company has sent out media invites for an event that could see the launch of the Aquos S3. The company made the announcement via Chinese microblogging Weibo. The event will be held in Taiwan. The USP of the phone is said to be its bezel-free design. The smartphone was also spotted on TENAA revealing its design and specification details.
As per the render, the smartphone will feature a full screen display up front with a notch up top that reminds us of the Apple iPhone X. On the top, it features a front camera, speaker, and a proximity sensor. At the back, we can expect a vertical dual rear camera with LED flash and a fingerprint sensor below it.

Based on what we have come across so far, the upcoming smartphone is said to feature a 5.48-inch display with a resolution of 2040×1080 pixels, an octa-core Snapdragon 630 or Snapdragon 660 SoC, and it is likely to launch in two variants – 64GB storage with 4GB of RAM, and 128GB storage with 6GB of RAM.
On the camera front, the smartphone is likely to sport dual rear cameras, featuring 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel cameras. For selfies, there’s likely to be a 20-megapixel snapper. The smartphone is said to be armed with a 3,100mAh battery, and it will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
In comparison, the Sharp Aquos S2 features a 5.5-inch display with 2048×1080 pixels resolution. It too was launched in two variants – one featuring a Snapdragon 660 SoC, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, while the other features a Snapdragon 630 SoC, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. For photography, the device is equipped with a 12-megapixel primary lens and an 8-megapixel secondary lens. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel lens with f/2.0 aperture.
