Micromax has listed a special edition Canvas 5 lite smartphone on its website. One of the key highlights of the smartphone is its aesthetically appealing wooden finish back panel.

Last year, Micromax launched its Canvas 5 smartphone which was praised for its aggressive pricing and noteworthy performance. Now, while Micromax has already launched its successor – the Canvas 6 with metal unibody design and fingerprint scanner, it has also listed the Canvas 5 lite special edition smartphone on its website. With a focus on design, the smartphone comes with wooden finish back panel which looks aesthetically appealing and offers a premium look and feel to it. While the Motorola Moto X had a variant with wooden back panel finish, Micromax is the first local manufacturer to do so.

Micromax Canvas 5 lite special edition specifications

As the name suggests, the ‘lite’ variant comes with a few compromises on the specifications and features, compared to the Canvas 5 that was launched last year. The new smartphone flaunts a 5-inch HD (720p) display compared to 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) display on the Canvas 5. Under the hood, is MediaTek’s MTK6735P 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1GHz, paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage.

In the photography department, the Micromax Canvas 5 lite special edition sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a front-facing 5-megpaixel selfie camera. With a 2,000mAh battery, connectivity options on the smartphone include Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and dual-SIM card slots with 4G LTE. On the software front, it runs on Android Lollipop 5.0.
