While Apple’s Airpods were widely criticized for their look and pricing, new wireless earphones by Crazybaby could be the ideal solution for the missing audio jack on your iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
The concept of wireless earplugs isn’t particularly new or unknown in the industry. However, when Apple dropped the headphone jack in the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus this year, and introduced the wireless AirPods, the trend of wireless earphones revived again. Picking up on the new craze, Crazybaby has worked on a new set of wireless headphones that aims to take the wireless headphone technology a step ahead. Currently an early bird project on IndieGogo, wireless headphones Air by Crazybaby, are supposedly world’s first pure carbon nanotube wireless stereo headphones. The earphones are going to be launched via crowdfunding. Early supporters can get this set for $89 (Rs 5,900 approximately), and they are estimated to go on sale by January 2017. In comparison, a pair of Apple AirPods are priced at Rs 15,400.
The carbon nanotube technology is aimed to “allow Air to have a comfortable, ergonomic design while looking, feeling and, and sounding spectacular.” Unlike the Apple AirPods, which were almost instantly criticized for their looks, and looking like “a pair of wet cigarettes stuffed in the ears,” the Air look a lot more sophisticated.
Crazybaby, claims to have spent a year designing these earphones. The Air are customized with the 5.2mm speaker driver to fine-tune and adjust the positioning and size of every element in the speaker chamber. It also features audiophile Hi-Fi sound, a single button control and an in-ear mic. The single button incorporates power, call, voice assistant and music control functions.
For connectivity, the Air supports Bluetooth 4.2, which lets them automatically connect to a device once they are taken out of the capsule. Compared to other earphones, the 4.2 protocol increases the data transmission speed by 2.5 times, data volume by 10 times and allows the earphone to connect over IPV6 to decrease energy consumption and provide safer internet access. Additionally, the Air is equipped with the CSR HD audio chip, which allows it to be smaller, yet not losing out on performance. The Air also comes with CVC 8TH Noise Isolation technology, which allows for efficient cancellation of background noise during calls or listening to music. The earphones are charged using a portable charging pod, called the crazy-capsule which is similar to the Apple charging pod, but more compact. The crazy-capsule features a magnetic charging ability, and the company claims that an hour of charging is enough to charge the Air three times. Other than that, the earphones come with IPX6 certification, which make them water resistant.
In order to guarantee a secure, comfortable fit for every user, Crazybaby scanned and analyzed hundreds of ears. And after a detailed research on different shapes and size of human ears, they created a variety of size combinations to fit them. Additionally, they created three “Sport Sleeves” for using with strenuous exercise. Made with medical-grade silicone, these sleeves are ultra-light and skin-friendly. Coming back to the carbon nanotube technology used in the earphones, the Air features an acoustic system by utilizing a CNT diaphragm (99.8 percent Carbon Nanotube). As a result of this design, the speaker driver is compact and durable, with the ability to deliver ultra-fast responses.
The earphones will connect to both Android and iOS devices via a free mobile app. It will be available in two colors, white and black. While Crazybaby is working hard at beating the Airpods, the latest news from Apple couldn’t have worked better for them. After last month Apple revealed that there would be a delay in shipping of the AirPods as it needed a “little more time” before they were ready to be shipped, new reports suggest that the ‘little more time’ could extend to the beginning of the next year.
