OnePlus is expected to launch an improved variant of the OnePlus 3 tomorrow. Here's what we know about the rumored OnePlus 3T so far.

Five months back, OnePlus launched its OnePlus 3, and now it is gearing up to launch an improved variant of the flagship smartphone. Dubbed OnePlus 3T, the smartphone has been widely rumored in the run up to the launch tomorrow. The launch of the smartphone is scheduled for tomorrow at 1:00PM EST, which is 11:30PM IST. With over 24 hours to go for the launch, here’s a roundup of everything we know about the upcoming OnePlus 3T so far.

Live stream: The OnePlus 3T launch event is scheduled to kick off at 11:30PM IST, and the event will be live streamed by the company. You will be able to follow the launch live stream on OnePlus’ Facebook page. Alternatively, you will also be able to follow live updates on OnePlus’ Twitter handle.

In the run up to the launch event tomorrow, OnePlus has repeatedly teased different aspects of the upcoming smartphone. The company recently released a teaser on its Weibo account, which shows a smartphone standing in front of a mirror. With a tagline, “To be a better me,” it is expected to be the OnePlus 3T. The back of the smartphone looks pretty much like the OnePlus 3, while the display on the front has a ‘T’ on it. It adds weight to the previous rumors that the upcoming smartphone will be an incremental update over the OnePlus 3, and will come with a better set of internals.

OnePlus 3T specifications

OnePlus has already confirmed via a tweet that the upcoming OnePlus 3T will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor. The tweet read, “T-7: The Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 (2.35GHz) is coming your way. Find out more on November 15.” Recently, OnePlus posted two more teasers on Twitter hinting at better internals with taglines “More Precision” and “More Power.”

Speaking of more power, The Verge claims that the OnePlus 3T could be the first smartphone ever to boast 8GB of RAM. This would surely raise the bar of what a smartphone is capable of, and pretty soon we can expect other Chinese companies to follow suit.

Some rumors claim that with the OnePlus 3T, the company would move away from AMOLED displays, and opt for LCD displays. But co-founder Carl Pei recently refuted these rumors saying, “OnePlus will be staying with Optic AMOLED displays for the foreseeable future.”

Leaks have also suggested that the OnePlus 3T will feature a 16-megapixel camera with Sony’s new IMX398 sensor, and a bigger 4,000mAh batter (up from 3,300mAh) with Dash Charge support. On the software front, it is expected to run on the latest Android Nougat. The company recently also revealed that the OnePlus 3 will receive the Android Nougat beta update sometime this month.

Interestingly, an unknown device by the name OnePlus Pixel has been spotted on benchmarking website a day before launch. According to the listing, this smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 820 processor and 6GB of RAM. We will have to wait till tomorrow to see, if indeed OnePlus is planning on launching a second device alongside the OnePlus 3T.

OnePlus 3T price

Leakster Evan Blass recently tweeted that the OnePlus 3T will be priced $80 more than the OnePlus 3. In other words, it could be priced at $479 (Rs 32,000 approximately). Earlier this year, the OnePlus 3 was launched in India as an Amazon India exclusive with a price tag of Rs 27,999. While there is no word yet on an Indian launch, we can expect India to be in the first wave countries, especially since it is the company’s largest market.
