Huawei P9’s successor, the P10 is rumored to be launched in a few months. Images of an alleged P10 prototype have been spotted online.

The much acclaimed Huawei P9 with its Leica-certified dual-camera setup was launched earlier this year in April. The company is now said to be working on the successor to P9, which is expected to launch in the coming months. Dubbed, Huawei P10, the smartphone had been recently spotted on benchmarking website , which gave an idea of what to expect from the smartphone. Now, an alleged prototype of the upcoming smartphone has been spotted online showing what the device could look like.

The photos of the Huawei P10 prototype was posted on Weibo, and they show the front and back of the device, AndroidPure reports. The image of the front shows what looks to be a glass panel with the selfie camera lens at the top. The Home button is located below the display which is expected to double up as a fingerprint scanner. The second image shows the back, which houses the dual-camera, and the setup is similar to the P9. Two antenna bands can be seen running along the top and bottom of the smartphone, and the curved edges look very similar to Apple’s new iPhones. Being a prototype, the usual branding is replaced with words like Hanzo and Dreams.

Huawei P10 specifications

Along with the images, some of the alleged specifications and features of the Huawei P10 has also surfaced online. The smartphone is expected to be powered by a Kirin 960 processor, and it is likely to be available in two variants — 64GB variant with 4GB RAM, 128GB variant with 6GB RAM.

As for the remaining specifications, the GFXBench listing revealed that the Huawei P10 could feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels) display. The GFXBench listing had also revealed a Kirin 960 chipset for the Huawei P10 along with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz and paired with Mali-G71 GPU. The benchmark listing surprisingly also hinted at a massive 256GB variant with 6GB RAM. On the software front, the Huawei P10 is expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.

To put these specifications into perspective, the Huawei P9 features a 5.2-inch full HD IPS display with 2.5D glass, Kirin 955 64-bit octa core processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of onboard storage which is further expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. The Huawei P9 runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based on EMUI 4.1 and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. Its connectivity options include dual-SIM support (hybrid setup) 4G LTE, WI-Fi, Bluetooth and USB-Type C port.

The Huawei P9’s much talked about dual camera setup includes a pair of 12-megapixel rear cameras which come with Monochrome and RGB sensors. The cameras also come with built-in dual-core ISP, professional DSP, and the depth measurement ISP for improved image focusing, speeds, processing. More feature on the dual rear cameras include laser auto-focus, hybrid auto-focus, contrast focus and even depth focus feature. However, the Huawei P9’s dual rear cameras lack Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), which the company has introduced on the recently launched Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design.
