The rumored 'Cedric' is believed to be the first Moto smartphone to run on Android Nougat out-of-the-box. The smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC.

A new Moto smartphone, codenamed ‘Cedric’, has been certified by FCC in the US. What is worth noticing is the certification suggesting that the Cedric will be the first Moto smartphone to run on Android Nougat out-of-the-box. The device is listed with model numbers like XT1670, XT1671, XT1675 and XT1676. The reason for multiple model numbers is to depict different variants, aimed at different regions.

Tipster Roland Quandt has shared a few details about the upcoming Moto Cedric. For starters, it will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 SoC, and it will be available in two variants — 16GB with 2GB RAM, and 32GB with 2GB RAM. There is currently no word on whether the memory will be further expandable with the help of a microSD card. Depending upon the region, the Moto Cedric will be available in single SIM and dual-SIM variants.

The tipster also suggests that the smartphone will be armed with a 2,800mAh removable battery, and the highlight will be the Android Nougat running out-of-the-box. While the rest of the specs are unknown at the moment, a report suggests that it could feature a 5-inch display.

While the Cedric is seemingly set to become the first Motorola smartphone to run on Android Nougat out-of-the-box, the company has promised updates for its existing devices as well. It recently promised guaranteed update to the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, and the likes of the Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus and Moto Z Play.

In the meanwhile, Motorola is gearing up to launch the Moto M smartphone in India tomorrow. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch 1080p display with 2.5D curved glass, 2.2GHz MediaTek Helio P15 quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB onboard storage along with microSD card slot.

The smartphone also features a 16-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel selfie camera, 3,050mAh battery with Turbo Charging support, and connectivity options like dual-SIM support (hybrid setup), 4G with VoLTE. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but is expected to soon be updated to Android Nougat.
