Google now allows iPhone users to backup their entire data on Google Drive.
I am an iOS user, and I won’t lie but a couple of times I have considered switching to Android. But just thinking of the hassle in transferring all my content from iOS to Android has kept me from switching. You need to literally dedicate hours to transfer content cross platform, unlike the ‘tap and transfer’ that works within a platform. However, Google Drive has a new update and it is meant for people exactly like me. The new Google Drive update is making it extremely simple for iPhone users to port their content to Android.
In an announcement made by Google on their official Google Drive Twitter account, it said that the new Drive update allows transferring photos, videos, contacts and calendar events easier than ever before. Google Drive also published a new web page on the Android website, that really tries hard to push you to switch to Android.

Essentially, iPhone users can now backup all their data on Google Drive, and just transfer it to any Android phone they switch to. Google is also letting iOS users selectively backup their Photos, Contacts, iTunes Music, and if they wish, their entire iCloud to Google Drive.
Here is how it works. If you are an iOS user, download Google Drive from the App Store and then navigate towards the backup wizard by going to Menu -> Settings -> Backup in the app. From there, choose to sync select contacts, calendar events and photos or everything and anything you need to be transferred. Google recommends that users backup when their iPhone is connected to power and is on Wi-Fi, as backing up can take several hours. And to switch, all a user needs to do is to log in to their Google Drive account on their Android phone, and the entire content will automatically sync.
This Google Drive update really reminds me of the Quick Switch Adapter that came with the Pixel smartphones. One of the first things that a Google Pixel phone prompts in your face when you switch it on initially is the ease it provides you to transfer all your iPhone content to the Pixel, just through an adapter. While the Quick Switch Adapter only works with the Pixel phone, the Google Drive method will work for just about any Android smartphone.
