The Coolpad Cool 1 Dual is one of the most affordable smartphones in the market right now that comes with dual rear cameras for bokeh effect.
About three months after launching it in China, Coolpad today announced the launch of the Coolpad Cool 1 Dual smartphone in India. The Cool 1 is part of the Cool-series, which is jointly developed by Coolpad and LeEco and also includes devices like the Cool S1. The Coolpad Cool 1 is available in India in two versions, both priced at Rs 13,999. One variant with 4GB of RAM with 32GB onboard storage will be available online through Amazon from January 5 whereas the other variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage will be available for offline channels.
One of the main highlights of the Cool 1 is a dual-camera setup on the back that includes two 13-megapixel cameras featuring f/ 2.0 aperture, Phase-Detection Auto-focus (PDAF), 4K video recording, 720p slo-mo along with dual-tone LED flash. The first sensor is for capturing RGB colors whereas the other sensor captures the monochrome images. The setup is very similar to what Huawei offers with its Leica-certified smartphone, Huawei P9. The dual-camera setup on the Cool 1 Dual also allows one to capture images with DSLR-like bokeh effects.
Coolpad Cool 1 Specifications
The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch full HD IPS in-cell display with 450-nit brightness and 72 percent NTSC color gamut. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based EUI 5.6 and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 510 GPU and 4GB/3GB of RAM options. The smartphone comes with 32GB of onboard storage and does not have a microSD card for memory expansion.
Along with a dual-camera setup on the back, the Coolpad Cool 1 comes with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with built-in beautification mode. Connectivity options include dual-SIM, 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and USB Type-C. The smartphone is powered by a 4,000mAh battery. The Coolpad Cool 1 also comes with a fingerprint sensor, which is placed at the back. The fingerprint scanner is claimed to unlock the smartphone in just 0.15 seconds, and can also be used for taking photos from the front-facing camera.
That said, the pricing strategy for the Cool 1 seems bit odd. While the two variants come with same Rs 13,999 price tag, the smartphone for the offline market has relatively inferior specs.
