After a lot of speculation about the launch date, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is now being rumored to launch on February 6.

Xiaomi is expected to launch its flagship smartphone Mi 6 next year, and it is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated products of 2017. However, there has been an unusual frequent disparity in the speculated launch date of the device. While just this week, a leaked poster suggested that the smartphone could launch on Valentine’s Day, which is on February 14, there were also some reports that hinted at a delay in the smartphone’s launch to April. However, the latest word that comes in suggests that the Mi 6 may be unveiled at a special event, that will be held on February 6.

Many have also speculated that, since Xiaomi is debuting at the CES 2017 this year, it just makes a lot of sense for the company to showcase its smartphone at the event. And if we want to connect the dots, and the February 6 launch rumor is in fact true, then there is a possibility that Xiaomi will showcase the Mi 6 at CES 2017, and will eventually go on sale by February.

The Mi 6 has been in news for a while now, with the last leak about it being the smartphone coming in three processor variants. The same leakster @KJuma who revealed this poster, had also revealed that the Mi 6 will be launched in three variants dubbed Xiaomi Mi 6S, Mi 6E, and Mi 6P, based on the type of processors they house.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Specifications

While the ‘Mi 6’ label will be consistent across the variants, the following alphabet will stand for the type of chipset powering the device. The Mi 6S will thus be the one powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoC while the Mi 6E will stand for MediaTek’s Helio SoC. But the ‘E’ moniker could also mean an Exynos chipset. Lastly, the Mi 6P is speculated to stand for Xiaomi’s own Pinecone SoC. So far, there have been only rumors about Xiaomi working on its own chipset similar to Huawei, which makes the Kirin SoC. However, with the purported release of the Mi 5 successor in the coming year, we might eventually see the debut of Xiaomi-made processor. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Mi 6 rumored to be launched in three chipset variants

Uptil now, the leaks have hinted at Xiaomi Mi 6 coming with a 2.5D curved display, a physical home button that is likely to double up as a fingerprint sensor, and a dual tone design with a metal back. The Mi 6 is also expected to come with Quick Charge 4.0, which is claimed to be capable of offering up to five hours of usage or more with just five minutes of charging.

In terms of software, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat or Android 7.1 Nougat update with MIUI 9 OS layered above. It is further speculated that the smartphone will boast up to 6GB of RAM. It may also feature support for USB Type-C.

A little is also known about the smartphone’s camera setup, which is expected to be a 16-megapixel rear shooter with 4K video recording capabilities and dual-tone LED flash, along with a 4-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. The smartphone may be fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Mi 6, OPPO Find 9 rumored to feature Snapdragon 835 processor, expected to launch in 2017
