Super Mario Run for Android pre-registration begins, launch likely around the corner

Once the game becomes available for Android, you’ll be notified about the same.


After launching the Super Mario Run for iOS devices earlier this month, Nintendo now seems to be gearing up to launch the Android version soon. Nintendo, on its American Twitter handle announced that it has started taking pre-registrations for the Android version, and users will be notified when the game becomes available for download.

If you’re excited about the news, you can head over to the Super Mario Run page on Google Play Store and get yourself pre-registered here. As of now, there is no word on when the Android version of the game will be launched. However, an early report suggested that it could become available sometime in early 2017.

Since its launch on iOS devices on December 15, the game has already surpassed 40 million downloads. With 2.85 million downloads on day one itself, the Super Mario Run as become an instant hit, compared to Pokemon Go, which had some nine lakh downloads in 24 hours. The game has a total of six worlds and 24 levels in the game. While users can play the first three levels for free, they need to buy the game by paying Rs 620 to play the rest. The company wanted to launched the Android version along with iOS version, but piracy issues delayed the launch. Even though Nintendo hasn’t officially launched the Android version, there are a number of fake apps already available on Google Play Store. The games are titled – Mario Run Jumper, Super Plumber Run and more. In a recent interview with Mashable, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto said that software is an important asset for the company.
