Samsung Galaxy J2 Ace with Android Marshmallow, VoLTE support launched, priced at Rs 8,490: Specifications and features

The Galaxy J2 Ace is a budget smartphone featuring a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash for low-light photography.


Samsung recently added a new entry-level smartphone under its J-series, called Galaxy J1 4G. Today, the company has launched another smartphone in the budget segment — called Galaxy J2 Ace. The smartphone is priced at Rs 8,490 and will be available starting January 16 online and at retail stores. The smartphone will be offered in gold, silver and black color options.

The smartphone also comes with an Ultra Data Saving (UDS) mode with data compression feature, allowing you to save up to 50 percent on mobile data. There is also S Bike mode that allows users to ride tension free by activating the built-in answering machine. If you get an incoming call when the mode is activated, the answering machine will prompt caller with a message saying you are riding the bike, asking to call later. Samsung has also included smart battery management system called ‘S Power Planning,’ Turbo Speed Technology to boost download speed and S Secure mode with options such as app lock, folder security and more.

The smartphone features a 5-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) TFT display. It is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core SoC paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB onboard storage. A microSD card slot for further expansion up to 256GB is also available.

In the photography department, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel rear camera of aperture f/2.2 with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera with aperture f/2.2 and LED flash to help you capture better photos in low-light. Fuelled by a 2,600mAh battery, the smartphone features connectivity options such as dual SIM card slots, Bluetooth, 4G LTE with VoLTE voice calling support, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11n. Considering the price tag of Galaxy J2 Ace, the specifications aren’t exciting enough. For Rs 8,499, you can go for the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, which comes with a 5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 615 octa-core SoC, 3GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage. It also features 13-megapixel rear snapper, 5-megapixel selfie snapper and a slightly larger 2,750mAh battery

Other option is the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime, which is priced at Rs 8,999. The smartphone offers a 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 430 octa-core SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB onboard storage, and 4,100mAh battery. You also get a 13-megapixel rear snapper and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper, and Android Marshmallow OS. The Redmi 3s Prime also comes with fingerprint scanner, which is missing from the other two phones.
