Samsung Galaxy Note 7 replacement units reportedly facing overheating, battery drain issues

Dovetailing previous leaks, this render almost confirms the final look of the Samsung Galaxy S8.

With high expectations from Samsung’s 2017 flagship Galaxy S8, the leaks and rumors have been quite high as well, with there being an almost overdose of the speculations. However, the latest leak would have you scroll down with curiosity, as it reveals, what is believed to be the first look of the Galaxy S8’s lock screen.

Spotted by Android Guys on a UK e-commerce website called MobileFun, a case maker posted an image of the Samsung Galaxy S8 encased in a FlexiShield protective cover. The render reveals what could possibly be the final image of the smartphone. The image shows the Galaxy S8 sans the home button, which is in line with the previous leaks. However, this render gives us a look at the Galaxy S8’s previously unseen Lock Screen. Also, in these images, as previously rumored, we do not see any fingerprint sensor. So if this image is in fact real, then it confirms that the Galaxy S8 will embed the sensor into the display. In addition to that, the render of the rear of the Galaxy S8 shows the LED flash cutout near the top edge of the smartphone, placed above the camera unit.

Just yesterday, there was another render that had surfaced online from another case manufacturer. The renders from that leak almost entirely match with what we have seen today. The display curved at both edges, no fingerprint sensor, similar camera unit.

These trail of identical leaks from different case makers almost entirely confirms the look of the Samsung Galaxy S8. However, the final word still remains of Samsung’s, so we just need to wait around for a couple of more weeks for MWC 2017 to kick off, where the smartphone is expected to be revealed. MWC 2017 is scheduled to begin on February 27. ALSO READ: Samsung Galaxy S8 leak hints at April 18 launch; here’s everything we know so far

Samsung Galaxy S8 specifications

From what we know so far, the Galaxy S8 variants are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC or Exynos 8895 chipset built on 10nm process, paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the Galaxy S8 could be offered in 128GB and 256GB variants.

For photography, it could feature dual-camera setup at the back — one 16-megapixel RGB sensor, and an 8-megapixel monochrome sensor. For selfies, there will be a snapper up front with auto-focus capabilities.

Other than that, the Galaxy S8 is believed to be fuelled by a 4,200mAh battery with wireless charging capabilities, heart-rate sensor, water and dust resistance, and connectivity options like 4G with VoLTE, and Bluetooth 5.0. The smartphone is also expected to be integrated with a smart assistant, created by Viv Labs. On the software front, the Galaxy S8 could run Android Nougat 7.1.1 out-of-the-box. ALSO READ: Samsung Galaxy S8 renders leaked; reveal dual curved display, skips physical home button
