Motorola is expected to launch the successors to the last year’s Moto G4 and G4 Plus at MWC 2017 next month.
After Nokia and Huawei, Motorola has announced that it will be holding a press event at Mobile World Congress on February 26. Motorola will kick start the event at 4.30PM local time, which is 9.00PM IST. The invite doesn’t really reveal anything much, and shows a smartphone with “Hello Moto” written on it.
If all the reports are to be believed, Lenovo and Motorola are gearing up to take the wraps off at least two new smartphones — Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. As the name suggests, these smartphones are basically the successors to last year’s Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus.
Moto G5 Plus specifications
From what we know so far, the Moto G5 Plus is expected to feature a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. Under the hood will be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone is likely to launch in two storage options — 16GB and 32GB.
For photography, the smartphone is expected to feature a 16-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. It is also likely to feature a 3,080mAh battery, and run on Android Nougat out-of-the-box.
Just like the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, the company will be launching the Moto G5 as well. The Moto G5 will be launched with few tweaks such as no fingerprint sensor, just the 16GB storage variant model, and a 13-megapixel camera at the back.
In comparison, last year’s Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus too came with a similar set of specifications. The Moto G4 featured a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 617 octa-core SoC, 2GB RAM, and 16GB internal memory. It also came with a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 3,000mAh with TurboPower support.
On the other hand the Moto G4 Plus, comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera, fingerprint sensor, and two storage options — 16GB variant with 2GB of RAM, and 32GB variant with 3GB of RAM.
Moto G5 Plus prices
The Moto G5 Plus was recently spotted on a Romanian website with a price tag of RON 1,650 which is approximately Rs 26,500. But going by last year’s smartphones, we expect the final price of these upcoming smartphones to be significantly lower.
