The MIXEvo is expected to be a variant of the bezel-less Mi MIX smartphone which was launched last year.

Xiaomi has not officially disclosed its plans on the next iteration of its bezel-less Mi MIX concept smartphone. However, if the latest benchmark leaks are to be believed, the rumored variant of the edge-to-edge display smartphone could come powered with Qualcomm’s latest processor. Dubbed Xiaomi MIX Evo, the new Xiaomi smartphone has been spotted on Geekbench, revealing some of key specifications of the smartphone.

Based on the leaks, the purported smartphone will run the latest Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset clocked at 1.90GHz, and paired with 4GB of RAM. The new chipset offers support for a 4K display and Quick Charge 4.0 that makes devices capable of achieving five hours of power in just five minutes of charging. Now this also suggests that the purported smartphone could feature a display with a higher resolution. Running the older Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, the Xiaomi MIX Evo has achieved a single-core score of 1,918 and multi-core score of 5,689.

In the past, there have been rumors about Xiaomi working on a Mi MIX ‘Nano’ version, which would bring in the same design as the original Mi MIX but offer a slightly smaller display. However, the company’s marketing director, Zang Zhiyuan took to Weibo to explicitly deny the reports. He wrote, “There’s no such product as Xiaomi Mi MIX Nano.” Although the company has denied having a Mi MIX Nano in the offing, it still leaves some scope to assume that there could be a variant with a different name, such as the Xiaomi MIX Evo.

Xiaomi MI MIX specifications

To recall, the original Mi MIX is Xiaomi’s concept smartphone that features a risky 6.4-inch near bezel-less display, and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It also features 128GB onboard storage. There is also a ‘Pro’ variant that comes with 6GB of RAM and 256GB onboard storage. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Mi 6 to launch in 3 variants with Snapdragon 835 and MediaTek Helio X30 SoCs

In the photography segment, the smartphone features a 16-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel selfie camera which is placed below the screen. It draws its juice from a 4,400mAh battery and offers connectivity options such as 4G with VoLTE support, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and USB Type-C port. On the software front, it runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based MIUI 8.

Details about the MIX Evo are scarce, but if it is anticipated to succeed the original Mi MIX, then we could expect it to boast a ceramic unibody, and a bezel-less display with 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. However plausible it may seem, the information about the MIX Evo has arrived out of rumors and leaks, and must be taken with a pinch of salt. It will be interesting to see if Xiaomi chooses to debut the successor to its awe-inspiring Mi MIX at next month’s MWC 2017.
