The latest leak reveals that Meizu M5S will be a budget smartphone.
Just late last year we first heard about Meizu working on a new smartphone, dubbed as the M5S. Weeks later we have come across more details about the smartphone through some leaked posters. While the latest leak reveals a few specifications and features of the Meizu M5S, it also hints that the smartphone could be launched pretty soon.

The poster further reveals that the Meizu M5S will feature a 5.2-inch IPS display along with Meizu’s own mTouch fingerprint identification technology, which is said to unlock the device in 0.5s. Under the hood the M5S will be powered by an octa-core CPU, which presumably will be by Qualcomm unless Meizu decides to surprise us all. In fact, considering, its predecessor Meizu M5 ran on MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor, the Meizu M5S might just come with the MediaTek MT6753 chipset.
In addition, the M5S is listed as coming with a cheap 999 Yuan price tag, which is roughly about Rs 10,000. For connectivity, the device will include features like dualSIM/ dual Standby support, 4G, Meizu mCharge fast charging technology.
Talking about the previous leak of the smartphone, that leak essentially gave away quite a handful about both the design and specifications of the device. The leak revealed the front and back panel design of the smartphone, that showed a home button with a fingerprint sensor placed on the front, and the rear of the phone revealed a camera with an LED flash sitting right below it. At the back, their sat antenna lines along the top and bottom edges of the phone. Over all the leaked image of the phone was quite close to what Meizu M5 Note looks like. Besides TENAA, the M5S is said to have also passed what’s known as China Compulsory Certification (3C), which revealed a table of specifications of the purported phone. The table also says that the Meizu M5S has a 5.2-inch screen, and also also reveals HD resolution. The phone is expected to be powered by a 1.3GHz octa-core processor along with 2/3/4GB RAM options. Internal memory options include 16/32/64GB. For photography, the handset would sport a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front shooter.
Weighing in at 138 grams and measuring 148.2×72.53×8.4mm, the device would run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and will be fuelled by a 2,930mAh battery. Similar to the Meizu M5 Note, the smartphone will come in color variants like silver gray, gold, and rose gold. As the name suggests, the Meizu M5S would be the successor of the Meizu M5, which was launched earlier in November. The Meizu M5 was launched in China in two variants – 2GB RAM/16GB and 3GB RAM/32GB. The one with 2GB of RAM is priced at RMB 700 (approximately Rs 6,800), while the 3GB variant will be available for RMB 900 (approximately Rs 8,800). Considering the price range of the Meizu M5, the Meizu M5S can also be expected in the similar price segment.
