These will be the first smartwatches to run the latest Android Wear 2.0.

It looks like we might be able to witness the next range of Android Wear 2.0-based wearables way ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2017. While the annual conference will kick start from February 27 and run till March 2, it is expected that the first set of smartwatches running the newest Android Wear 2.0 by LG will make their debut earlier than first assumed. As per the latest information coming from serial tipster, Evan Blass, the LG smartwatches will be unveiled a day before on February 8.

The LG Watch Style and LG Watch Sport are the two smartwatches coming from LG’s house and expected to run the newest Android Wear 2.0. It was first reported that these will be announced at the upcoming MWC followed by reports suggesting that the launch date will be February 9. Now the latest information seems to contradict all the previous reports and hint at an earlier launch. It is to be noted that launch of the smartwatches will also mark the debut of the Android Wear 2.0. The latest version of the software for wearables brings in a lot of improvements and features including support for standalone apps.

LG Watch Style, Sport specifications

In terms of design, it is rumored that the upcoming LG smartwatches will boast a stainless steel build, circular, OLED displays and come with better certification for water and dust resistance. In addition to a robust design, one of the smartwatches will also be LTE compatible, making it a truly independent wearable.

It is expected that the LG Watch Sport will feature a 1.38-inch display with 480×480 pixels resolution and include 768MB of RAM. It will further come with IP68 certification, making it resistant to water and dust.
