Finally, you would no longer have to worry about using your iPhone in the rain.

The rumors were true. Apple‘s Twitter account just announced water resistance feature for the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and quickly deleted the tweet. We had already seen leaked photos of the SIM card tray with rubber lining and now it is official. The new feature, which has existed on Android smartphones for a long time, would only help Apple take away one more key differentiator between the iPhone and Samsung’s current flagship Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy Note 7 smartphones.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus acquiring water resistance was expected, especially after Apple made some internal changes in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus by adding gaskets to make them more resistant to water. Now you won’t have to worry if your new iPhone takes an accidental dunk in the toilet (eww) or you happen to get caught in a sudden downpour.

Both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are IP67  certified for water and dust resistant. This means the new iPhones can be submerged under one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
